If you go and first look at the preview or thumbnail of the template I am using (TwentyFourteen), you will see how the image on the thumbnail extend all the way to the sidebar.

For their "standard", and" image" formats (the only two for that theme that I have tried) any image, including a feature image, will be centered above the main content. The content container, itself, is horizontally centered in the open space to the right of their main sidebar.

If you selected, from the Media Library, an image whose width is less than that open space, then there will be a margin. But if equal or greater than the space, there will not be a margin. For example, a banner that is 1600px wide, shows no left or right margin. A banner that is 1400px wide shows the margins and looks a bit odd.

The reason it doesn't look exactly like the Twenty Fourteen theme preview, is because the preview shows a right sidebar, which tightens that available space. Thus, they can use a smaller feature image for the content.

Page layout is partially controlled by the Format that you choose for the page or post, coupled with the way you setup the theme's Widgets.

Does this help?

Thank you Fran,

I will give this a try and let you know how I make out. Thank you so much for the quick response!

Sure Deryck! WordPress is a maze, and every theme functions differently. So there is somewhat of a learning curve which each theme. That's why, once you get one you like, you will probably find yourself using it for most of your web properties created in Wordpress.

Respond if you have any more questions related to this issue.

You're very kind. Thanks. I've setup a wordpress network outside of (pre)wealthy affiliates and I have an ever growing laundry list of niche sites that I am beginning to produce along with an anchor site that will be at www.leathernecktech.com. b-readi.com is an example of one of the niche sites. I thought I'd give this a try to see how it goes. I'm pretty happy so far...just wish I had more time in a day.

You're right about the themes. I am getting to the point where I am probably just going to write my own theme or two or three and stick with what I then know extremely well. This guessing around the nuances of each template is very time consuming.

Well, I am finally getting back around to this site again. So, I will let you know how it goes. I just finished up the b-readi site (although, it too, will need more work).

Thanks again..and if ever I can return the favor, please do not hesitate to ask. It would be my pleasure...

YES, it is! Some of the pros, here, like the "Genesis Framework".

I've thought about writing my own theme, too, and plugins; but then would need to learn the WP API. Again, time....

I like your "Why b-readi..." post. Your "High Performance Backpacks..." page looks good, too. Are you using the Woo Commerce plugin?

You have a very impressive background, Deryck. Is the "network" you mention for SEO purposes, or primarily for organization? I've read about private networks for purposes of internal linking; but the discussions I've fallen upon seem shrouded in mystery. :)
