About DerekCrans

I'm a full-time food manufacturing employee at Gerber Products Company (baby food). I've been at my job for over seven (7) years now. I've always dreamt of being a successful entrepreneur and have failed at a number of small business attempts over the years. I'm 34 years old, and my interests include running (have ran many 5K's over the years), nutrition became a huge interest of mine especially after losing 80 pounds through the use of Herbalife products, I like playing classic video games such as Final Fantasy 1 for the NES, and I enjoy spending time with my daughter and other family members. It is my hope that my interests will help me to hone in on a profitable affiliate marketing niche. My last business was an Amazon FBA business called Gamers Gold, I sold many old video games and video gaming accessories. Most were brand new condition. My business failed when I had 1000 NES Classic Mini controllers private labeled with my trademarked logo. Unfortunately I sold only a few of these controllers they were manufactured by a China company from off of Alibaba. So now I have over 900 controllers at home so a lifetime plus supply. Had I did more product research using Jungle Scout I think I would of I think had a better private label product this increasing my chance to be successful. Wealthy Affiliate is my next entrepreneurial chapter. I'm impressed with the amount of training, large network of affiliate marketing entrepreneurs, and the amount of support.

Money Goals
1
Money I would be happy earning
This is a tough question to answer fresh out of the gate. Anyhow, short term by the end of December 2017 I would be happy to be earning a net profit of $100 per month. Long term by 2023 five years from now (about five months after my daughter graduates high school) I want to be a full time entrepreneur with net profit of $5000 per Month.
2
Money I would be ecstatic earning
$5000 net per month to meet my long term goal early. It would be exciting to be free of job, have the ability to travel, live somewhere else with better climate and lower cost of living, and to be able to help my daughter and other family members financially.
3
Time I'm willing to invest to achieve my goals
20 hours per week to start, and more time commitment as profits increase.

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Sure Kyle I have a niche that I'm thinking about that I think may be profitable. I'm 6'4" and 255lbs and I'm a runner, so as a heavy runner, and I've been running heavy for over 15 years now I know the struggle of finding comfortable running clothes for the larger runner, also there are a number of products like dry fit clothing and chafing sticks and even baby powder and other products that are accessories to runners many of which a smaller runner wouldn't want to buy but for athena (heavier female runners) and Clydesdale (heavy male runners) there are many products that are invaluable. The problem I'm running into now is heavy women runners clothes are often called plus size so a site like plussizerunning.com would work well, but heavy men's runners are often called big or heavy runners or even big and tall runners. What I'd like to do is to focus on men and women heavy runners clothes and products suited towards heavier runners. However, if I chose a domain name like "heavyrunners.com" I may offend heavy female runners but yet I'd like to do an affiliate marketing site with a niche representative of both heavy male and female runners. Please help give me some ideas Kyle?

Or should I choose say to do two separate niche sites, one for plus size women runners clothes and accessories and another for big and tall or heavy men runners. What do you think?

Focus on just ONE website and create success with that before diversifying and creating multiple niche websites.

It only takes ONE website in one niche to be very successful online. I usually find that folks that try to do too much at once (focus on several niche websites) end up in a state of mediocrity because it can be overwhelming and you don't really ever become the expert in just one niche.

It is the experts (specialists) that create long term, successful businesses in any niche.

Thanks Kyle I appreciate the advice. My first site bigandtallrunning.com is the site I'm working hard on I've created the about me and privacy policy pages. As for the other site plussizerunning.com I already bought this domain, so I'm going to attempt to do this niche website as well. With plussizerunning.com being a womens running website a good portion of my content will be for women, by women therefore I won't be the main writer for content on this site, as I will be for bigandtallrunning.com. I'm still not sure on how to hire people to write content for plussizerunning.com but even on freelance sites I suppose I'll find some plus size runners that would be willing to write site content, and make some money on the side too. Also, there is already alot of content written online, that I could perhaps use as content on my site, although I would have to ask for permissions, and perhaps even pay the owner to be able to use their content for my plussizerunning.com site. Any other advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks Again Kyle

As mentioned, I would focus on one or the other and I would try to build both sites at once. I would get the formula down for one website, and then consider diversifying. You don't want to spread your resources too thin in the early stages of the development of your business or you will end up in a state of mediocrity versus creating something great.

Okay I will focus then on bigandtallrunning.com for now and later diversify into more sites. As for plussizerunning.com that site will be there when I'm ready.
