Writing Too Much? Help!

Is it possible to write too much?

This is a question that I've struggled with for a while now. We are taught here that 1,000 word count, keyword rich content is the way to go. Shorter pieces of content (less than 1,000 words) aren't ranked as favorably, which all makes sense to me.

I find, however, that I don't struggle with reaching this word count. On every single occasion that I've written something, I've always gone further or waaayy further than 1,000 words.

I feel like what I write is important, and that I need to explain certain things before continuing on with others. This stretches out my posts considerably.

Based on what I've seen, two 1,000 word articles are better than one 2,000 word article.

Am I hurting my own success here? If so, how do I limit my writing? Once I start, the words just keep coming! It takes me an entire day to put out an article sometimes.

What about you guys? How long does it take you to put out an article? What word count do you like to aim for? And what advice might you have for me?

I'd love to hear it!

Nope! I just finished a 14,000 word post! Ranking for a TON of keywords!

I think the number of words is not important. Bring the message that you want to bring. If it turns out to be 1,500, fine, if it turns out to be 5,000 it’s fine too.

It all depends on the topic. Sometimes I bring out long articles as well and other times shorter ones.

It’s all about finishing the subject. I used to think that splitting an article in half wa me a good idea. Now I don’t think so anymore. You get ranked for far more keywords when having longer articles.

Keep up writing.

I actually contract out three articles a month at 1000 words and write one myself at 1000 to 1,500. Once you find a good writer that understands affiliate marketing and writing an SEO article, you can usually buy in bulk to save money.

A few of my favorites for blog posts are:
This is used for high competition keywords. I always will rewrite their articles.

My (1) article targets the 3 and 4 word long tail keywords. They are easier to rank for...

For social media:
Content just has to build a following not as worried about SEO.

This has worked for me for years.

I also have contests for social posting my url. I might giveaway an Ipad once a month. Hundreds of people (depending on the niche sometimes thousands) post my url...and I draw at the end of the month. You can do it cheaper...I started by giving away Amazon $25 gift cards.

Lot of you might not know that Amazon has a giveaway program: https://www.amazon.com/giveaway

Hope this helps!

One last thing, I contact blog owners in the niche area with an article and ask them if they will publish it. Some people are down on guest posting but it works for me with traffic, I watch how much traffic each article creates. Here is the platform I use: https://realspecific.com

I understand that beginners might not be able to afford a software platform like this...but one day you will. I often get asked to beta test software and get breaks on lifetime costs.

This is great! Thank you!

what have you seen that makes you think two 1,000 word articles are better than one 2,000 word article?

As long as it is quality content and not just fluff, longer content is the way to go. Will definitely not hurt your success to have content on more than 2,000 words - on the contrary as long as it is helpful and quality.

Personally I very rarely post articles only around 1,000 words. I aim for a minimum of 1,500, but in general I write until the topic is finished. Sometimes this is less than 1,5000 words, and other times it is 3,000-4,000 words.

Hmm, I see.

I just wondered if the number of posts on a website influenced its rankings in any way. Perhaps I'm working off a mistaken assumption.

Thank you!
