Did You Remember to Hug Your Child?

Today is another day. Did you hug your children today before they left for school? Did you say, "I love you?" before they walked out the door? You never know when you will find yourself wishing you did. I will tell you a story about one such a person; the mother of a precious teenager named, "Tara." Although she hugged her daughter all the time, she could never have known it would be the last hug she gave her on that spring day. It was a day she would never forget.

Tara was a well-behaved normal teenager, filled with enthusiasm for life! She had an uncanny spiritual nature, and she didn't mind sharing her belief in a higher realm of existence. She didn't keep it a secret. She had a strong belief in angels. A few days just prior to Tara's birthday, she and her mother were sitting together at the kitchen table. Tara said, "Mom, what would you do if you thought you had a higher calling?" Her mother didn't know what to say and answered Tara the best way she could. Thinking little of it, the day went on and came to an end as usual.

A day or two before Tara's birthday while she was on her way to school, Tara was hit by a van and killed instantly while she was in an intersection. In a mysterious way, she seemed to have intuitively known somehow that her time to depart was near. Tara's parents were shattered.

Days after Tara's funeral, at a time well-known to many as the most painful possible time in a parent's life, Tara's mother and father came home with their heads down and their hearts broken. Their lives were shattered by Tara's passing. They both casually strolled into the kitchen to seat themselves at the dinner table when they noticed a small plate on the kitchen counter. They could not explain how it got there. When they looked to see what was on the plate, it was angel cookie. Shocked and surprised, they wondered how it got there. They knew in their hearts because of Tara's belief in angels it was a miracle of divine nature. To say they were crying and touched by the sentiment is an understatement. No one had the key to their house, and they took it to mean something "higher" from Tara. A gift from an angel.

Shortly thereafter, Tara's mother started a little shop in Southern California called, "Tara's Angels." This is a true story about a family who was touched by the spirit of their child after she had passed. It is a truly moving story. One that will bring you to tears.

Did you hug your child today? Do you remember if you did? Did you say, "I love you?" I hope you did. There is no greater love than that of a child. Sometimes our time is shortened with the people we love and it is important to tell them you love them when you have the chance. If you don't, it may be too late when you decide to do so. Time can be robbed from us, and so can our lives. Always remember when you are rushing out the door in the morning to remind yourself of what is important to you. Your child will never forget you for it, and it will bring many more cherished memories into your life.

Have a nice Monday everyone at WA! I'm sending you a hug right now! And SMACK!, I threw a little kiss in for your right cheek. Why not, you all deserve a little kiss once in a while from a friend!

Great story Denise, I had a similar true experience with my daughter gone now for 23 years, but never forgotten.

My ritual with all my children from babes to adult as long as they are around me is a hug and kiss before they leave the house.

Thanks 🙏🏾 for the hugs and kisses, it’s very much appreciated.
Have a blessed day.

Elizabeth

It really hurts; I know; the suffering. Sister I am here for you if you ever need anything. Thank you so much for the response; two hearts that can hold each other when it comes to understanding the depth of the pain. Poems; prayers; and a nice picture of earlier days gets me through. Bless you Elizabeth! 💕

My son always tell me, give me a hug dad. When I give him a hug, he tells me: you are the best father in the world. I feel delighted when I hear him say that to me. And I say to myself that things don't that come from nothing. Because there is something that pushed my son to behave as he did, which is when you loves someone sincerely, he loves you in return with the same sincerity without any delay or Indifference.

Denise thank you for sharing this. I have grown up children but when I speak to them I will make sure I tell them often enough that I still love them.

My son is at the awkward 13 age with respect to displays of affection lol but I will see today. Lol. He's going to ask me if I am alright I am sure

Just tell him, and this is the truth; "Strong men are not afraid to show emotion, son. People who do not show they love others are weak people. You don't need their adulation enough to be embarasssed because you love someone; your'e too strong to care. :)

Well said Denise

I did.

I'm so happy you did! Some children are rarely hugged by their parents. In today's rush, people tend to be in too big a hurry and regret it later sometimes. That can apply to anyone. :)

Have a good week and keep on huggin....:)

Hugs are awesome and thankfully we still practice giving and receiving them.

:)
