Timing is Everything
My local beach today - Town Beach, Mandurah
On my afternoon walk today I realized, once again, that timing can be important. I had left it quite late in the day to walk and the sky was looking a tad angry. (For those of us in Australia, it is spring and we are just coming off the back of the coldest winter in 30 years). I was walking and thinking that I had been part of the WA community for about 4 months and have really, only just begun on this incredible learning journey.
I was mulling over the fact that things seem to have stalled for me in the last 6 weeks. It started with a holiday away to Exmouth (Ningaloo Reef)
Turquoise Bay
3 weeks of Sun, (in the north of Western Australia the winter is very mild with Temperatures of about 28 C or 82 F) Snorkelling with the tropical fish, Kyaking, and chillaxing!
It was hard to focus on my return 3 weeks ago. I felt somewhat deflated - both at my return to work life and my perceived lack of progress with my website. I felt rested after the holiday - but within a week, the holiday felt like a distant memory.
During my afternoon walk It started to rain - and I mean RAIN! The rain came at me horizontally with a howling wind for good measure and I had about 20 mins walk to get to the car.
I started to feel myself getting upset as the rain drops started to roll down my back and neck. It was at this point I started to laugh at myself for being so "precious".
Instead, it struck me that tomorrow is a new day and reminded me of a wonderful quote from Buddha.
I spent the rest of the walk feeling lucky. Lucky to be me, lucky to be alive, lucky to live in such a wonderful place, lucky to have family and friends, lucky to have a tomorrow to start afresh.
Practicing Meditation has enabled me to feel calmer and more focused in my daily life. When I find myself in "stressful" situations - either at work or home I am able to "pull back", observe the situation not buy into the emotions and think logically.
So, Tomorrow is a new day.
Start the day with a morning Meditation - state your intention for the day, give thanks and "just sit and breathe". 10 minutes is ideal to start your practice. Thoughts and feelings will come and go - just observe, don't engage or judge.
it is normal to get distracted with thoughts and sounds - your awareness pulls you back in to the meditation.
Meditation is a powerful tool to practice Mindfulness and with daily practice you will feel the positive effects within a few short weeks - both to your mind and body.
Every cell in your body will feel the benefits and thank you for it.
Where ever you are in the world have a great weekend - both at work or home with friends and family

It seems we have much in common. My post today was called Seize the Day. I can clearly see that you definitely know how to do that! Thanks for sharing a piece of your journey with the WA community! - Joy
We do have much in common Joy - isn't that the most wonderful thing about WA - many like minded people from all over the world to share ideas, experiences, inspire and educate.
Can't think of anything better.
Love reading your posts Joy.

Hi Debra. I was looking for your posts for awhile. Like your new avatar pic. You live in a beautiful area for meditation there on the edge of the vast Indian Ocean. Best wishes as you recharge and move forward.
Thanks Mike
