Feeling a little overwhelmed, did you go through this phase?

Okay, so I have been feeling a little overwhelmed and I thought I should just let it all out. I have had my website up for a little over a month now and I just keep feeling like it is not good enough yet.

I saw a statement a few days ago that I have been riding on. Aim at excellence not perfection. Because perfection is the enemy of progress which has been the case for me. I have several post ideas but I just keep feeling like none of them is 'there' yet.

So I am taking a deep breath and making sure I keep moving. I will keep writing and grow in the process. I am sure it will get better with time. On the positive side, people have been writing to me about how my blog-posts are really encouraging them so I am grateful for that.

It is funny how the blessing is also the source of pressure because my readers are telling me how they keep checking my blog to see if there is a new post. I am trying to get as many posts as possible but my son is a handful so I have very little time in my hands. I am going to make the best of what I have.

I haven't made any sale yet, as you may have already figured out( otherwise, I would probably be more excited :-D) I have been wondering whether I signed up for the Amazon affiliate program prematurely because now I also have the unnecessary pressure of having to make a sale before 90 days so that I don't get struck off. But anyways I know if that happens I can always apply again, right?

I am going to stop thinking about the money, and focus on building the site, putting up great content and developing trust from my readers. I must say I enjoy the connection I have been able to get with some of my readers- I don't have that much traffic yet, but the few are giving me great feedback.

Oh, and my theme... I am not sure if I like it or not. I have looked at a couple others but I haven't found one that I am totally in love with yet. I will ignore it for now and focus on content building. I feel like I have had too many distractions with the design and whatnots.

Okay, there I go. I guess I should really get back to working on my site. Thanks for reading this and listening to my little 'rant'. I love the platform we have here. Let's hope the website will start paying for the membership in a few months.

Any tips y'all have will be appreciated.

Not too many people make money in the first a few months so don't beat yourself up! You can re-register Amazon affiliate if you end up 90 days with no sales. No pressure. I totally understand your feeling, but if you try to do it perfectly, the pressure overpowers the joy of building your business.

You mentioned it too, but focus on the good content, enjoy this process as you are helping other people (maybe not now, but soon!). Be patient and persistent, and have fun!

Good luck!
Kyoko

Thak you so much for your encouragement Kyoko. Especially this, "but if you try to do it perfectly, the pressure overpowers the joy of building your business" it explains a lot.

It really does help to hear it from someone else.

Hello Debbie,
I believe everyone that is not experienced in online businesses becomes overwhelmed at times. I think it's a combination of nerves and anxiety. We want to be successful and are excited to see it come to fruition. The main thing to keep in mind is not to quit! If you don't quit you will get your first site built and see success and eventually another and another. The anxiety is a good thing if you don't let it get the best of you. I believe the fact that you are feeling overwhelmed just means that you have the desire to succeed and you want it now! Keep up the good work Debbie and remember don't quit!
Mitch

I know... I want success and I want it now (though I know it has to take some time) For sure I will not quit, I will crawl if I have to, but I have to keep at it.

Thanks for your kind words Mitch.
Am really grateful.
