Bulding Blocks of Life - Foundation #1 - HEALTH

In this series I will address four crucial areas to the enjoyment and fulfillment of life. Each crucial area will be broken down into various smaller components of impact. My goal is to offer small changes one can accomodate and track easily. Whether you change one or all the aspects in this category is up to you. I am just offering ways to make simple changes that can greatly affect one's outlook, enjoyment and production in life. Relax, there are no wrong answers, just helpful information.

Many things can be included into health. I will be focusing on lifestyle habits that you can control, not healthcare you need a degree for. The medicine part of health I will leave for the medical professionals. The lifestyle overview will consist of water, eating habits, exercise, vitamins, rest / sleep and expectations/enjoyment.

The first area to explore is WATER. Water is a fundamental building block of life. We know we need it but most of us avoid it like the plague. Some say our bodies are 80% water. Other scientists say the brain functions are enhanced when water is plentiful. If water is so beneficial, why do we avoid it (cannot be price, still the most affordable beverage)? If we do not choose water (that's right, our decision) what do we choose? Beer, coolers, wine or liquers could be one choice, sodas and other sugary beverages another, Coffee (hot or cold), Tea, milk or juice perhaps a better choice, or energy drinks, gatorade, powerade and the like. None of these have the same benefits as water.

There are several ways to implement more water in our daily routine. Some say a glass before every meal will help in digestion and cause one to feel full sooner and thereby eat less. Some start their day and end their day with a glass of water. Others choose to have water available all the time. I encourage you to find a way that is tailored for your lifestyle. Some add a flavor to their water. The idea is to drink a little more each day than you normally do. If you already drink 8 glasses of water a day, do not do any more unless you need to (sweat much due to work or sports). A few people treat water as a cleanse to get rid of impurities but over-drinking can have negative affects.

The idea here is for you to choose positively to enhance your life and lifestyle. You should feel great about adding a little more water into your system. You will think more clearly, be less hungry and your thirst will be quench (satisfied). The lack of sugar or other calories may lead you to lose weight, but that is not the goal here. The goal here is to be happy and healthy by making one small simple change in your routine. Tell me below HOW YOU will make this change and be healthier.

I fall into the catagory of knowing I should drink more water, but usually end up drinking tea or coffee.
I will endeavour to drink more water and your suggestion of a glass before meals is the way to go for me.

Nice to hear you are starting a health topic.
Every morning I drink a cup of water before taking breakfast. It has becomes a habit. Any good or bad to me, I am not sure. You can tell me later. Thanks in advance.

That is a great habit. Many health professionals say we should drink about 8 glasses a day (8oz each). If that is your only cup of water for the day, I suggest adding one more perhaps before lunch or dinner or bed. Let me know if you feel a change.

Actual lemon with help you lose weight, flavored lemon I am not so sure. Either way you are drinking water which refreshes and renews. Professionals suggest 8 glasses (8 oz ea) a day. My routine is either 3 1 liter bottles or 4 12 oz glasses per day (my 48 oz is below 64, but I still enjoy other beverages as well).

I use real lemons and I drink 2 liters a day plus instant coffee.
