In this blog post we are going to talk about selling yourself online.

How to Sell yourself Online

Now don't get me wrong here,

I am not talking about selling yourself on any of those dodgy porn sites or even about selling any form of body part whatsoever!

What I am talking about is selling " Who you are or What your business is about" online and how to keep it professional.

When starting an online business I think some people forget that this is still a form of work or a personal job. It may be a part time hobby or you may be building it to one day replace your current job but it is still a job.

It doesn't matter if you are selling books, comics, art, self-help or any one of the many niches you may have chosen to base your business upon. All of them are going to have a part of you in them and you are going to be the face of your business.

How you write, the design of your site, the images you use and the topics you discuss are all going to reflect your personality and personal interests, and if your readers identify with this and are entertained it is going to ensure that they return back or subscribe to receive more.

Maintaining and managing your online profile and presence can be one of the greatest assets and a key component to the success of your online empire.

These are some of the steps I recommend you focus on whilst building your digital empire.

1.)Know who you are!

This first step is understanding exactly who you are and what your personality traits are.

Are you funny and zany and the life of the party? Or are you a more reserved and quiet type? What are your main hobbies and interests, are you a sport fanatic or more sedentary person that prefers spending time at home?

The reason this is important to know is that once you know who you are, you then will be clearer in the direction you want to go with your site and the style you are going to use through your different mediums.

Trying to present yourself in a manner and style that doesn't suite your personality can be detrimental to your business, as you will appear to lack authenticity and may not appeal to your target market. There are millions of people out there and your style, content and images will attract like-minded people to your site and will keep them interested so that they keep coming back for more.

If you are not one hundred percent sure, then why not take a personality test to try and help you clarify your thoughts?

You never know, this may open up some new avenues for you and motivate or push you into a direction you never thought possible before.

You can try the following sites below:

As my mentor Tony Robbins says "Clarity is Power!"

2.) Focusing Your Content

If you really want to make your business a success, make sure that you focus on your goals and that you maintain the direction and focus of your business.

I say this because once you start getting followers or subscribers you are going to want to keep them focused on your central message.

Think about it, if I started writing science fiction and you subscribed to my blog and then 2 months down the line I am writing about gardening or politics you are probably not going to be very happy. So always keep your end customer or subscribers in mind.

3.) Have a Motto or Mission Statement

This will help your subscribers to easily determine what type of message you are trying to convey and whether that topic is something that is of interest to them.

My mission statement is "Helping you build your digital empire online". From this I am sure that you will easily identify that my site is about digital programs and tools for building your website and other programs online.

4.) Keeping it Constant

What I mean by this is for you to ensure that whatever you put online needs to be consistent across the different platforms so that you are conveying the same message throughout and do not appear to be sending mixed messages across cyber space.

If there is anything identifying you personally on your online business platforms you also need to ensure that your personal social media platforms reflect the same stance as your business platform

If you are promoting a system that promises to help people earn money and you state on your blog that you are earning a great income every month, using that system and then somewhere on your personal Facebook account the same reader sees you complaining about being dead broke, you are sure to lose that customer and your credibility instantly.

A simple mistake like this can cost you your entire reputation online.

The same goes for your photos, don't promote healthy living on one platform and then post photos of you overweight, tucking into mountains of fast food and partying it up at the clubs on another. Your message needs to be the same across all platforms.

Following these simple steps you can ensure that your online presence will look clear and professional and boost your presence online.

Selling yourself online is not an easy task but with a good sense of awareness, good content management and some practice you will soon be a master in your field.
