Breadcrumbs Issues Fixed

Fixing Breadcrumbs Errors

So I gave the breadcrumb plugin a try in order to keep my theme. This unfortunately messed up the layout of my website shifting most of the page to the left, leaving a black hole.

I uninstalled the plug in and prepared to try again. Same result.

Nothing that I did seem to be working. Infact my site map had disappeared so it wasn't looking good at all.

When site support was contacted about the sitemap and the layout of my posts I was told that I needed to contact the creators of the plug in and the theme to get that fixed.

Finally I deleted the plugin, found a scheme that used schema.org, and changed it. I updated and reloded my posts a few times. Fixed. I ran them in four different browsers just to be sure that the display was great.

The sitemap didn't reappear however but the error message had changed to a parse error. After reloading it a few times sitemap was just a blank page.

Fixing Sitemap

I contacted site support explained the events that had gone before. I told them about the changes I'd made to fix the problem and within a few minutes they responded? Sitemap fixed.

Yes it was there and better than before. I had only had about 6 links in my last sitemap, this time I had 79. Yup.

Validating My Site

Finally I contacted Google, resubmitted my sitemap and asked for my site issues to be validated as fixed.

This fix happened on Wednesday site and sitemap looks healthy and intact still. Best of all Google still cant find errors. Bing didn't have any for me either.

Whew. All in all it has been a few tough weeks for this site. Well I cant say I love the new theme that much but I am feeling too traumatised to change it at the moment. I just want some stability right now. In a few months I'll find something that's more attractive and has schema.org then maybe I'll change it.
