No announcement was made but I can happily state that now editing your Wordpress site on an iPhone or iPad is now possible through either the Wordpress app or an excellent alternative with more editing options called Blogpad Pro.
It may cost over $5 but it has a great interface and is more functional than standard Wordpress app.
