Bring It On!
As a sort of follow up to my New Year, New thinking blog and the extension of positive thinking I went to an Open night last week for a local Design College. The staff, students and facilities impressed me so much that I instantly enrolled in their Diploma of Photo Imaging.
On Friday I received a conditional letter of acceptance and and immediately got to work on their small portfolio submission for selection and completed all their paperwork.
That is now all in their hands and I am waiting the final conclusion but I am so happy and excited about the fact I will be a mature student and the career change challenges I now face.
The fact that I couldn't continue in my old trade was devastating in the fact that I was out of work for so long but truthfully I wasn't happy doing this, now I'm setting out in a new adventure in something I love, something I have a passion and genuine interest for.
This was made possible by a few factors:
- Working with a psychologist
- Reading a book entitled Failure is an option: How setbacks breed success
- Support from my wonderful partner
- The extremely supportive, knowledgable and positive people here at WA
Just to finish off, it's never too late to follow your dreams and from every setback you must look at it as a learning opportunity rather than wallowing in sadness or regret. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on to the next challenge. Success isn't financial it's personal and being content with your inner self, taking positives from criticism and using to your advantage.
Many Thanks
Dave
