Building a "Real World" Network
I do not know if it has been happening to other prople as well, but my website is branching out in the real world too.
What I mean to say is that many people I normally see for various reasons, and with whom I have talked about my Mediterranean Diet website and the recipes I am publishing, are feeling involved.
I am reciveing recipes and photos almost on a daily basis. even people I did not know well, and I was simply on a "smile and nod" relationship, are now giving me suggestions and ideas.
This set me thinking. Along with the consideration that many "older" people who have discovered the possibility of using a computer and the Social Media are feeling more into reality and less left out.
An example of this was the "special pizza recipe", given to me by a simple golf club acquaintance who took the trouble to photocopy the recipe handwritten by his 95-year-old mother!
So what is the conclusion of these thoughts?
Simply that we all have great opportunities to discover a treasure trove of knowledge and friiends, simply by writing and sharing something we care about!

But, question: How did these people learn about your project? Especially the ones with whom you only had a passing smile/nod relationship with ? ... Did you publish in a place common to your neighbors and club members?
No, they talked to other people at the club, or they simply listened and then asked about it. A few went as far as looking on Facebook, and found my fan page, but on the whole it was a mouth-to-ear process.
Did you post the recipe on your site just as you did for us here? If not, please do!! And of course, give tribute, express gratitude, to your golf "buddy" and the efforts his mother made. I think this is so awesome and I look forward to when the same happens for me and my site(s). Very cool. It sounds like the healthiest mix of social media with RL that I've heard of yet. .......... Most of the time I just hear how socially isolating our new technologies are making us, so, this story is a godsend, a real relief to hear and a model to shoot for. Thanks for sharing.

I have not posted it yet, for I had posted a very similar recipe for Easter. But I published the recipe on my Facebook fan page and I will publish it on my website in a while.

I believe that you must always aknowledge contributions, especially when trying to spread a culture of food that is so deeply rooted and valuable as the Mediterranean diet.
