Back to London

The time of another stay in London has arrived and, while I am waiting to board my plane, I am watching tthe people all around.

I love airports, and I always come early to watch - literally! The world go by.

This form of observation has been giving me various ideas for blogs and posts, so this time is not really wasted.

The first question I am asking myself is, why in books and films there is always a nice man, with interesting stories, sitting near the protagonist and I always get stuck with bores who have sometimes had difficulties in getting access to a good shower?

I have been travelling by plane for more years than I care to remenber, but I NEVER had an interestiong person ( neither man nor woman) sitting next.

My strategy is burying myself in a book!

Does someone have a nice story to tell?

I don't travel much. Sitting next to you on a long flight would be a lot of fun.

It is so fun to people watch! Enjoy London!

You're in my brain. Love going to airports too and no I've never had a great storyteller next to me in the plane, not even a handsome man nearby like in those chick flicks! Have a wonderful time in London, I love and miss this city. We have a London too in Canada, not quite the same, lol.

Most of the time, it seems like people don't talk that much on plane trips. They might say where their from, or going to, that's usually about it.

I've met some very interesting people on planes. For some reason, people feel compelled to talk to me and sometimes reveal some of their deepest secrets which I don't repeat. One time when I realized that a husband and wife's seats had been split up because of me and the way we booked the flight, I offered to change seats so they could sit together but they both said no. I was reading "The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" suggested to me by my philosopher friend. This guy saw it and it started a conversation that lasted the whole flight (about 4 hrs).

Have always commercial traveled with a companion or with family, except once, 'a suit' who slept the entire non-stop flight. Boring.
A memorable flight because the book I read was "Freakonomics". I couldn't close it. Their new book "Think Like a Freak" has just been published this month. Bought it. Have their website bookmarked too. LOL.^_~

I sat next to my sister on a flight once upon a time....we got to know things that we had not shared previously. Turns out that some of the people we know the best are the best to meet and get to know on a plane...Mind you the Italian lady sitting next to me probably found me completely boring...LOL
It is just the luck of the draw, I guess, you should start the lottery, your luck has to change soon...

I had the pleasure of meeting the gentleman who had trained the dogs that played Wishbone on PBS. An amazingly smart Jack Russell Terrier. The show has been cancelled, for political reasons and he is now retired. I found out he also trains horses, and was kind enough to invite me to go riding with him and to meet the new dogs he had at his ranch and was training. This was a particularly exceptional offer. I love horses, dogs are my passion and what a story to add to my blog this will make!

This was years ago. I sat next to a Green Beret who pointed out things on our flight from California to New York. He told me about going home and seeing his little sister. Yes, he was seeing his parents, too, but he was looking forward to seeing his sister and probably her friends. He was a nice guy.
