Is one site enough?

So now that I've completed training lesson #9 and have started following at least 10 people from the WA community, I wanted to give you my google+ info https://plus.google.com/u/0/101475162198952964437

I've had an account with google+ for years but have never been that active on it. Same with Twitter, Linkedin. Instagram and Facebook. I have felt, and I might be way off here, but trying to utilize one media platform for all my interests was asking a lot. So this is what I started to do.

Facebook

I tried to keep my posts on Facebook about mind and body. Topics like what books, or articles or music I've found interesting and felt like sharing. Topics like yoga, meditation, philosophy and anything dealing with the human side of my personality. Mindfulness and intention and the spiritual side of me.

I've also used this site to practice doing live shares just to see what the reaction would be. They allow shares of up to three or four minutes or more. I try to keep a live feed at three minutes or fewer.

Twitter

If you interested in my politics or social issues than I feel that twitter is the social media platform that best accommodates that. And believe me I have some strong opinions about issues like Ageism, Big Finance, Why College costs so much today, Senior Care, and the plight of the baby boomers in general. I just don't think that Facebook is where people are going to talk about those issues.

Linkedin

If I wanted to talk about Networking and Entrepreneurial topics butI have found it to be the least interactive platform so far. Again talking about networking on Facebook just didn't make since to me.

And I've found it to be geared to people who are either looking for employment or employees. Since I was neather I haven't spent that much time on it but have used it as a resource and have read alot of really good articles.

.

Instagram

I've been having fun with this platform and have used it mainly to post little thoughts that I come up with all the time, I found an app called Ripl that is so easy and fun to use that I've just gotten addicted to doing little 30 second vignettes on all sorts of topics and playing around with hash tags. Just for my own edification more than anything else. The Ripl app allows me to send these vignettes to all the platforms with the click of a button and I've been doing that pretty regular. Your able to put you website in a box on the first page of the clip and by using the same font and music it's an easy way to brand yourself. This platform also allows you to live stream and just increased the time to one minute.

Youtube

I keep reading about how this site is taking the pork chop off Facebook plate but it is pretty intimidating but I've actually been able to create my own channel and post a video using both my phone and my laptop. Not that anyone ever watched it but again it's a platform that is out there.

Conclusion

Going forward maybe Google+ is a social media platform that can handle all the varied interests that a person might want to share. But each platform has it's strengths and weakness and if you try to use only one you run the risk of alienating and turning off people that have no interest in the burrito you had last nice at you favorite Mexican restaurant.

On the other hand the folks that are interested in where you eat might care less about you attempt at networking or building a business. Is a one platform approach the best or should we have a presence on multiple platforms? That's the question is Goggle+ the basket you want to put all you eggs in or should we all be using multiple baskets?

I highly suggest working on one site at a time until you begin earning with that niche site before you start another niche.

Sharing links to your posts on various social networks will be good and increase your changes and "reach" to potential site visitors.

I share my posts on googleplus, twitter, facebook, pinterest, and linkedin
