I'm British, married to a Polish woman. I've been teaching English as a foreign language (often referred to as ESOL) for fifteen years. I hold an honours degree in English language and literature. My niche is writing, proofreading and helping non-native speakers to improve their websites, advertising, promotional literature etc. This is my first venture into the online world so I'm expecting a steep learning curve!

Dave,

Your profile is amazing! As an English teacher and writer, etc., have you considered publishing a book? Or perhaps you've already done so.

So, you've been with WA for just 9 months and you've successfully used this new platform to build an online business, and to help others along the way.

Thank you SO MUCH for being a shining example for those of us ranked 1068 and beyond!

~ Wishing ONLY the best of health, wealth, love ♥ and happiness for you and yours.

My dear Carol,
Thank you so much for your kind words.
Actually, I have used a website I created here at WA to publish a book in instalments. You can read it at http://dbenglish.debutpublishing.com/ where I've also put some essays, musings and a short story.
I must warn you, the language can be rather...shall we say, expressive?
My main site is http://startesolteaching.com/ , which I set up to help people who are thinking of becoming ESOL tutors.
I haven't made any money yet but, having done a fair bit of research, it's not unusual to have to keep plugging away for a year or more before any ROI is seen. This is a long haul to success, not a sprint!
If you need any advice on writing content, grammar, spelling and so on, that's my strong point. If you need help on the IT side, there'll always be someone who can help you somewhere in the WA community.
Good luck!

Definitely! Write more, read less.

Dave, I see you are making some good progress through the Affiliate Bootcamp. Just wanted to pop by and see if you need a hand with anything?

I also wanted to mention the success rates of Bootcamp. Absolutely everyone that has taken action on all of the phases of Bootcamp has a business that is generating consistent income online. MANY of these folks are going to be at our super affiliate conference next year.

I want this to be you and I want you to succeed with your promotions. So, please promise me that if you ever need a hand or feel stuck as you move forward, that you will get in touch with me!

Trust me, I know things can be a little overwhelming sometimes and I don't want you feeling like that.

Anyways, just checking in. Get back at me if you need anything Dave.

Thanks, man, it's going okay but there just aren't enough hours in the day. Thankfully, after Christmas I'm giving up one of my jobs to concentrate on teaching and writing full-time so I'll have enough time and energy to really devote to WA and online working. It's just a case of hanging on until the New Year.

There definitely aren't enough hours, that is something that will never leave you no matter how much time you make for your business lol.

Keep working at this, keep plugging away and moving in the forward direction. :)

I now know why you picked up on my poor grammar skills earlier haha. You teach it. I also learned what EFL means on your site. Great content. Some of the photos could be better quality but other then that keep up the good work. I fully understand your potential customers/readers

Thanks, man. I've been thinking about my niche. As an ESOL tutor, I know there are thousands of resources online and most of them aren't really all that helpful, especially for people just coming into the profession and for those teaching kids, so I'm going to make that my speciality. I'm trying to break into being a writer too so I reckon I can maybe kill two birds with one stone.
I've got a few other ideas about niches but I'm just going to take it one step at a time. I'm a very, very busy man so it's going to take a while to get up and running. Once I start bringing in some cash, I'll definitely be looking to upgrade to premium but I think that's going to take a few months.

Definitely you can kill two birds with a single stone here. I know you are going to love this, you can take any passion and with a little effort, create a business out of it.

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

I've decided to concentrate mainly on people who are new to TESOL and haven't got the time/patience/experience to come up with their own resources. I'm also thinking about school looking to broaden their horizons, people thinking of a career change etc. I've just been setting up my website, I want to have a q&a forum on it for people who subscribe to share ideas, comments, reviews etc. I'll need to go to the bank on Monday morning (it's late Saturday evening now) and set up an account for the business end, PayPal payments and so forth. I'm going to need a few more weeks to write/draw/design my own range of resources so this is definitely a long-term project.
Really appreciate the help from you guys.

My suggestion is to keep it simple in particular when starting out. First get to a point of success where you are ready to diversify and you have enough traffic to diversify.

Far too often I see folks wanted to build out their idea first and then focus on getting the business to it, when in actuality the opposite approach leads to success. Focus on building your foundation, your brand, and creating an audience before you focus on getting too complex. It will lead to much more success this way Dave.

If you can help people (which you have lots of experience with through teaching), you can create a successful business doing so. This goes for absolutely any niche Jeremy.

Over the years I have personally been involved in many niches and the same principles held true. If you help someone, you build trust and once you have trust, you can generate revenue through your promotions. Not until then.

That is what you are going to learn all about here at WA and the proper strategies to create a business online. I look forward to working with you and if you need a hand with anything moving forward, simply drop me a reply here and I will give you a hand.

PS. I hope you have an awesome week ahead!
