The Process of Starting and the Fear

Everywhere you look around you hear a story about someone making it and that anything is possible. Dropouts becoming rich, YouTubers doing nothing much but raking in cash and someone you may have known in the past is doing so well when you thought they were NEVER going to make it.

You are not angry about this but you start to question why them? Most important, why not me? What did they do to so great to move the world and I'm still here in the workforce grind day in and day out? What makes them so different than me?

Honestly, nothing. We are not different from these people. The main difference is what these people DO. Especially, what they did to get started. It is this part in our lives that make that great decision or no decision to get moving. Major moment here...if you can't get started you can never finish, and the fear of getting started is enough to weed out most who would rather live life on their terms.

You have heard all the rhetoric of: get motivated, find a mentor or just start from too many sources. Problem is inspiration will fizzle when you see how far others have progressed, mentors don't just stand on the corner waiting on you and usually starting gets you more questions than answers.

So, how do we get pass all this and just get started? Actually, it is quite easy and can be done by anyone. First, do the lowest amount of research to get started. The amount is based on you and what you really want to know. Simply, you need to be thinking about what you want to be and how to get there. This step is for you to see what you are doing in the research, understand the very first step and visualize moving forward.

Next, comes the bad word: money. There are two philosophies I state on this: don't spend too much or you will feel guilty and don't spend such a small amount that you would have wasted it anyway. Find the mid-point that makes you sacrifice just a little thing that you may notice but hold yourself accountable.

Lastly, give yourself permission to screw it up. We all think we can do it on the first try but rarely that happens and when we mess up we often give in and quit. It is okay to suck for a while but you have to keep going, keep putting in the effort and somehow we wind up getting to the good.

Finally, know you are not alone. This community is based with more help than you can see. Only thing you have to do is tap into it. We all will always have fear. Fear is a signal suggesting something we need to do something. Well, you are at the "someplace" right now and now the choice it is up to you to "do something".

I wish you much success as always

Great post-Dark you did a really great job of explaining fear. We all have fear in trying something new or thinking outside the box. But once we get going on something then the fear leaves us and relief set in and that is a wonderful thing.
