Play around with WordPress themes
Don't be afraid to have a play with various WordPress themes before you commit to one. Remember if you do this early on it is easy to switch between themes but if you leave it until you have loads of content it can get a bit tricky as the formatting doesn't always work. It's easier to change a few posts than many posts.
I must have tried over a hundred themes over the years but here are my current favourite free themes. They are all flexible and responsive with some great customizing options:
Vantage
Sydney
Customizr
Spacious
Storefront (ecommerce)
Also once you are comfortable have a play with Site Origins Page Builder plugin (free). It's an awesome plugin that will get your website looking awesome, even if you just use it on your homepage.

I have being using various themes on my website. I am not currently happy and feel need to change them constantly. I will try the ones you mention. Thank you for sharing.
