Narrowing my niche

Hey friends, I am new to WA I think this is my 3rd or 4th day here. So far I’m loving the warm welcoming community and being a total newbie when t comes to building websites I think the training as well as the hep from other users on here has been incredible. The other night I shared some of my niche ideas and things that I felt I could blog about within that niche but the feedback I got everyone said to “pick one thing” and I am a little confused by this. For example I created my first website to be New Mom advice and I wanted to blog about things I had questions about when I was still pregnant but this can be a variety of topics but I feel they are all ok to be on the same page because they still fit within the the theme of new mom advice. My first blog was about breastfeeding. So to the advice I got am I supposed to now solely make the page about breastfeeding and breastfeeding only or would it be ok to blog about other new mom related things such as how i lost my baby weight or my opinion of certain brands like the mama roo baby chair? Advice on this is greatly appreciated!

I've been struggling with this too. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose!

What I have learned is, your niche and the post/blogs you write have keywords that can relate. So it does not necessary have to be on the same topic as long as it relates. For example, Kyles basketball skills and drills could include recommended shoes, shorts, and different socks to wear for the drills.
I think for your niche whatever helped you might someone else that is struggle.
People search on google to buy and to do research, people are looking for advice.
My advice include the things you would advice, never know who you may reach and that info could help them solve a problem or question they are seeking.

Thanks for responding

Great advice!

Your niche - new mom's advice, is good. I think that others were encouraging you that if you start with a certain topic, like breastfeeding, you will want to build out the content in such a way where you will become an authority on the subject. Doing the necessary research and keyword search takes time if you want high rankings with the search engines. You are certainly free to blog about other issues that new moms deal with once you get the first blog build out. Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying! This was helpful. I definitely will expand more on the topic of breastfeeding and try to be an authority on the subject as you are saying :) as well as being a mom something I am really passionate about is Art&Design; and I really want to build out a website for this niche as well. Being that I’m a beginner with the whole website building process and still in the training 8/10 I’m going to keep working on the new mom advice website first

My pleasure! Glad I could help. Your passion for "Art&Design;" will make a great niche also. Yet, you're right in wanting to complete this one first. I tried working on more than one site at a time and found out that it can hinder you from achieving your goal(s) in a timely manner, especially if you're a newbie. You're doing great - keep up the good work and stay in touch.
Looking forward to your success. :)
