Goodbye Captcha
I put to the test a plugin called "Goodbye Captcha".
At first I found it a little skeptical because of the claims. There is no images or words that needs to be typed when users visit your website. No box to check completely hassle free. Kinda like magic as they actually say in the description. Setup is as basic as downloading and activating it.

Some people will even create a sub-domain for testing themes and plugins.

So, I gave it a try! They explain how you should test everything out after you install by logging out of your website and leaving a comment and signing up.
After doing this, it was easy to sign up and as they said, no captcha. Just fill in my information and submit. BUT, Was i actually protected from Spam? Yes actually! I'm completely blown away with this app. I was getting member spam everyday. Not so much comment spam, but LOADS of spam member signups. (I left user registration open for people who want to contribute)
The only other app I use for spam is Akismet. Using both of these have stopped spam user signups and spam comments "Magically".

Anti Spam is excellent, I can't praise it enough, I ditched Askimet and have zero spam ever.
I had Akismet enabled when trying out Anti Spam. I'm wondering if this is why I had issues with it...
I'm going to Ditch Akismet all together and see if I'm still protected. Will update soon!
That was my worry so I had both going together for a while. With Askimet I got very bad spam, but when Anti Spam was loaded it stopped. Eventually I disabled Askimet to see if Anti Spam could do the same job alone and believe me it's prevented the spam coming through so I deleted Askimet a few weeks back.
We're told to believe that there's no other like Askimet, but that's rubbish. Check out my WA blog I wrote a while back Do you need a spam blocker?
Sweet thanks! We're in a new age of Spam. Bots are getting smart so smarter ways are developed to stop them. Protection needs to detect the bots now instead of tricking just them. That I believe is what Anti Spam or Goodbye Captcha does.
Tried that one a few days ago but it was affecting my site performance so I decided to scrap it and go back to Anti SPAM, even more low profile and NO SPAM.
Very interesting you should say that and I hope everyone notices this:
I just removed Anti SPAM because it wasn't working well for me. It goes to show that a situation will vary. Maybe our theme and other plugins play a big role to what works best for us.

sounds really good, I have one the anti spam bee which seems so much better than akismet, will have a look at this one, thank you for bringing it to our attention
