I observed that a few days ago my WA rank was 6.4K but recently I saw that it has gone up to 7.2K. I am clueless about this uptrend in my WA rank score. Please explain this sit

Hey Ajit,

To be honest, it's NOT something you should overly concern yourself with.

However, I completely understand that a lot of "small wins" created by Kyle and Carson on the platform were to keep people motivated.

The problem being is that, with "small wins" it becomes very easy to focus on the WRONG THINGS.

Your "WA rank" is simply based on your activity within the community.

You will see many members say that being "helpful" is what will increase your internal rank.

I disagree, the WA algorithm, in terms of rank, is solely based on activity.

In effect, you could probably provide absolutely NO HELP whatsoever, and simply write thank you on 100 posts a day (an option that some choose to take).

This will see your rank shoot up, and potentially even to "Ambassador" status.

HOWEVER

Having a "high rank" in Wealthy Affiliate has absolutely nothing to do with your business whatsoever.

In effect:

Do you want to be "popular"?

OR

Do you want to be successful?

I'm not saying one way or the other is right or wrong.

In fact, for many members "being popular" may actually provide additional motivation.

You also have to look at each individual in terms of mental and emotional health and wellbeing.

Someone who is depressed, lonely, etc. who regularly contributes to the platform, and has a "high rank", well this could actually be seen as "treatment" for their condition - I see nothing wrong with this at all.

Then again, you can guarantee that there are many people who have completely abandoned their business simply to be more "popular" on the platform.

In effect, there will be members who pay $499 OR MORE per year purely for social reasons, once more, that is the indivdual's choice, I see nothing wrong this.

The choice, of course, is ALWAYS down to the individual.

But, you can guarantee that over the years, there are some extremely successful members, millionaires in fact, who probably have a rank of 100,000+.

Conversely, there are those who have been Ambassadors, and probably still haven't made their first dollar in online marketing.

As in ANY walk of life, don't judge others based on STATUS.

It's your business, it's your decision, but don't forget, you can have an extremely high internal WA rank, receive all the accolades from your fellow members, and still can't afford to pay for your membership, or even your essential bills.

Partha

Thanks Partha,

You didn't write a book this time (lol).

Well said Partha…I used to be concerned about my WA ranking, but my business and training suffered.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions.

Ranking is not banking, but neither is it wa…. A waste of time.

Each of us have our own reasons to be hairy…metal, beer and belly’s is ok with me.
But if that’s what floats their boat..good for them.

I did my best, to make this a jest…lol.
Can’t help meself.

Now, I have to figure out lunch tomorrow.

How did you go with the. MOz stuff.

I thought it was interesting as there were some parallels between your stuff and theirs.
Great work.
Thanks
Stephen

Treat that as an except to his next novel LOL

Yep, I get that too, in terms of those who are promoting the MMO niche.

But, in effect, it is still a form of "deception" as far as I'm concerned.

Your Wealthy Affiliate Review:

"If you sign up today, you'll have me as your Personal Coach, and you'll be pleased to hear that I am also an Ambassador on the Wealthy Affiliate platform. Therefore, I am one of the top 25 ranking members of this great platform".

*Newbie is impressed, signs up, concentrates on rank and not their business, Suddenly, a few months later, newbie is an Ambassador, but still can't even afford to buy a cup of coffee*

"Oh no, my personal coach led me to believe that their high ranking within the platform had something to do with their level of success"...

You know me Stephen, personally I prefer to be a completely open book, and as honest as I possibly can be.

So, if ever I did choose to promote MMO, I know for a fact that I wouldn't even mention ranking.

You sign up under me and I will try my best to point you in the right direction.

Yep, thoroughly enjoyed the MOZ thing, ta.

Partha

I totally agreed with you Partha some don't even bother to respond to their referrals for ages or not at all.

Along with the standard welcome message with many links and shows of how they earned thousands in a week but don't let them know it took them years in the business to me that is not much different to the fakers online with the same clickbait titles.
what is worst some are so-called super affiliates.

Haha, after all your writing I think I know you too well, lol. Nah, it’s a pleasure to know you and it is always refreshing to find someone who can think for themselves in these days and ages.
If done correctly, I.e. not mentioning your rank but interacting to find out concerns etc. much like Quora and LinkedIn.
But, ( glad no predictive text on that) I have seen it abused. And it is abused from some who are at the supposed top of the game.
Not here, by which I mean WA. and I’m talking about emotional marketing.

Sort of went out on a tangent here, but if you are interested, I will send you a link to my thoughts.

I had some great news from hospital today, which has put me in a great mood….which means… I will talk and write to the cows come home.
And damn it if I don’t have any cows. Lol.

Cheers
Stephen

Glad to hear you have had positive news.

Alex

Wise words indeed Partha.

Cheers.

Edwin

Hi,
Now I understand why WA rank goes up and down. Your detailed reply is satisfactory. I want to be successful and NOT necessarily a "popular" person. I am currently undergoing the training i.e. OEC and BootCamp. I think these two pieces of training would help me to create my affiliate marketing website, run SEO, do content writing and convert prospects into real customers and thus drive traffic to my website. I guess ranking does NOT matter a lot as far as my success is concerned. I thank you for showing me the right path to follow. Having said this, I have the pleasure to follow you. Thanks a lot for the inspiration I got after reading your post.

Hey Ajit,

The following may offer you the help you seek: Hope this helps you.

Don’t stress it, but I think it means you went the other way. From 6.4 to 7.2 from the top. More interaction means more points and being ranked higher. But if I was you, I would concentrate on training first, then writing and your website. Remember, the more you interact, the more you learn.
Stephen

Partha meant to say should NOT overly concern yourself with.

Its just a measure of activity on WA like everyone else has said and doesn't mean much more than that.

:-)

Mel

Spotted and changed!!! LOL!!

You're the best, Partha! :-)

Mel

Your ranking will go up and down depending on your activity here within WA along with other members activity as well.
You can read this post from Kyle that will explain how the ranking works. .

Okay, your reply has removed my doubts about the process of ranking. I have opened the link to the article written by Kyle on "Become an Ambassador at Wealthy Affiliate!" I have learnt a lot by going through this post. Thanks a lot!

You are most welcome not sure why the same comment came up twice as i wrote something else to add. Fortunately Partha covered this anyway.

I just noticed you have doubled up your answer. I’m also getting this and it seems with the new “algorithms “ I’m guessing, it is leading itself to this.
Cheers
Stephen

yea what else is new Stephen these latest updates are a real drag and it does affect us not just here but with these crazy changes for starters along with the need to fix our banners some still have issues along with the links then the need to fix our content.

What is a Helper and Activity rank? Are these ranks beneficial for a member? If yes, please show me how.

You have good answers here.

However, it is always better to focus on your websites vs blogging here at WA.

However if you do do and someone signs up, and later upgrades you may receive commissions as long as they remain subscribed to the platform.

Hey Ajit,

The following post may offer you the help you seek: Hope you find this helpful.

Hi - they are simply an indication of how active you are on the WA platform.

That includes writing blog posts, answering questions, leaving comments, participating in Live Chat, creating training, welcoming and following new members, etc.

It doesn't really mean much; it has nothing to do with your website or how successful you will be.

Even as a top 25 Ambassador, there is no financial gain, perhaps some free WA merchandise.

Hi Diane, The information you provided above has removed my doubts about the financial benefits attached to a member who attains a certain level on this platform. So, all members, especially the ambassadors, are working here on a voluntary basis. Thanks a lot for the information.

These are internal rankings that shows your level of activity within WA there are no financial incentives regardless of your ranking.

You are better to focus on the training, build your website and create content that is where you can earn

Hi Apache1! Please see my reply to Diane's comments on the same topic.

You have rightly pointed out that my focus should be on training, building a website, and creating content to earn an income.

Thanks a lot!

Most welcome Ajit there is nothing wrong with helping others and being active here but the main focus should always be on your website as that is the reason why you came here in the first place to build an online business.

As both Diane and I mentioned regardless of your ranking including Ambadassor there are no financial gains just the satisfaction of knowing you are helping a fellow member.

THat is ones that give help when ones ask questions. Activity rank is just doing things and chatting here in the community. Training explains it better then me.
