Hard Work Brings True Joy
This morning while driving to work, a song from the country music genre came on the radio. I was jamming to the song because somehow country music gives me that soothing and reflective feeling. There was a particular line in the song that got me really thinking though, I can't remember the exact line, but it referred to a greater appreciation for the things for which we work hard, and lesser appreciation for those which are handed to us.
I have often complained that I have never I had an easy job, before I even finished college, I was thrust into a high intensity job, I left that job after two years and went into a job of higher intensity, and the trend seems to be continuing. When I look back I realize that each job provided a stepping stone for the one that followed. I have not achieve anything close to what I want financially or professionally, but I can tell you that I have been ahead of most of my peers, because of my view of hard work which was instilled in me from my days of attending high school where the motto was "Res Severa Verum Gaudium", Latin for "Hardwork brings True Joy". Kudos to St. Hilda's Diocesan High School in Jamaica and what its value systems have taught me.
