COVID-19 Vaccine Passports: Should America Implement?

Only 42.2% of Americans have been fully vaccinated. For the US to go back to the " normal " way of doing things and experience herd immunity, she would need to have at least 70-85% of its citizens vaccinated.

There’s a lot of foot-dragging when it comes to getting vaccines in the arms of people. Some people are hesitant because of the conspiracy theories that the vaccine would complicate their health conditions; others have long held deep-seated negative beliefs against vaccines.

Some states in the US have started easing restrictions and throwing their stadia open for spectators to come in and watch events live. Chase center in San Francisco last Friday, April 23, threw its gates open for spectators to come in and watch their favorite team play but only if they are fully vaccinated or can show proof that they are immunized against the disease.

The European Union has agreed to open its doors to visiting Americans who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19!

Whether we like it or not, COVID-19 vaccination is being used as some type of admission ticket into mass events. As the country gradually opens up, there will be more insistence on some form of proof of COVID-19 wholeness before admission into crowded events.

But how reliable is our COVID-19 vaccination certificate? Ebay is agog with people buying and selling fake COVID-19 Vaccination certificates! I have a genuine one which I received after my second shot. I can say with little hesitation that it does not take much ingenuity to duplicate it.

Other countries have taken steps to ensure the authenticity of their COVID-19 vaccination certificates while we lag behind.

China now uses an app-based system that can use your medical and travel data to score you green, red, yellow to gauge your likelihood to get COVID-19 and whether or not you can walk around freely

Israel plans to issue its vaccinated a “ green passport” which will grant them easy access to restaurants and cultural places. This will exempt them from quarantine rules or being tested before travel

India intends to give everyone vaccinated a QR-based electronic certificate that is easily accessible.

Should we follow suit and declare vaccine passports for Americans who have been vaccinated against the virus, have tested negative for the virus, or have recovered from it? What do you think?

Hi - Kyle has specifically stated that he does not want any blog posts that discuss vaccination. Thank you.

Thank you Diane for the reminder. No wonder there were no responses. I am sorry for flouting Kyle's directive. It was not intentional. I just did not see it.
