Family traditions and Detroit Lions today

The Detroit Lions claimed a thrilling Thanksgiving Day victory against the Chicago Bears, winning 23-20! 🦁🏈 My immediate family continued our tradition of gathering, cooking, and enjoying the holiday while watching the game together. It's such a great way to bond and celebrate the holiday with family and friends.

In past seasons, I really didn't watch football with my husband and family. It was tradition early in our marriage when we gather at the matriarch's house, the ladies/girls would be on the main floor prepping, and cooking the Thanksgiving dinner while the men/boys would be in the basement fellowshipping and watching the game. Several years have past now that the matriarch and patriarch passed away and the siblings have gone on their separate ways. The siblings' families have grown to include new and extended family members and friends to have Thanksgiving dinner at their home.

It was uncomfortable at first because we were so used to the large gathering with all the siblings and their families that we've outgrown each other or have started to focus on their immediate family. We still love each other and find time to come together though out the year. In our family we are continuing to stick with the Thanksgiving tradition to watch the Detroit Lions football and cook dinner with our family.

It’s amazing to see how the Lions, a team with a challenging history, have turned things around. Their rise after the 2023 football season gave us so much hope and excitement—we’re already dreaming of a Super Bowl championship in 2026! Here's to a bright future for our team and this wonderful family tradition! 🎉✨

Key players shone today: Jared Goff threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns, Amon-Ra St. Brown caught 8 passes for 112 yards, and David Montgomery added a crucial rushing touchdown. It’s inspiring to see the Lions thriving—we’re dreaming of a Super Bowl championship in 2026! 🏆🎉

However, injuries have impacted key players like Carlton Davis (knee/thumb), Taylor Decker (knee), and Kalif Raymond (foot). We’re hoping for quick recoveries before the next game and dreaming of that 2026 Super Bowl championship! 🏆Detroit Sports Nation

Let's go, Lions!!!
