Two Worlds: One Real One Virtual

Introduction:

In writing this blog, it's not an attempt to try and decipher the intricacies of World events but maybe how you and I stand in the midst of it all. Most importantly, what can we do about it

A little Bit of History

Looking back over family history, my Great Grandfather was alive at the time of the American Civil War, Both my Grandfathers were in France WW1 and Uncles in WW2. From this time, a few more wars have taken place, which now brings us to 2020. The 159 years from 1861 has seen Science and Technology advance exponentially. I suppose you could regard the 1800's as a "springboard century.", propelling us into the 20th and 21st.

An example of this would be the Internal Combustion Engine (late 1800's) engineered by Gottfried Daimler (Mercedes-Benz) soon to revolutionalize our transport system. In particular, it opened the door to powered flight as engines could be made small enough for "Those Magnificient Men In Their Flying Machines". The Wright Brothers 1906: Used in Wartime 1914 – 1918 and then WW2. In just 33 years from the start of powered flight, enter the age of jet engines (Invented by Sir Frank Whittal RAF). So it goes onwards & upwards.

World Economy

Economically the world has had it's up and downs. For instance, the USA had
47 Recessions since the Articles of Confederation, the U.K. 12 from Napoleon's days. Each recession brings with it job losses; It's safe to say that our immediate ancestors and we have experienced a recession. Some slumps are more profound than others; regardless, job losses happen in various areas of Business. Not to mention the "occasional pandemic." currently, the one causing "havoc", Coronavirus. The bottom line is, the threat of recessions and pandemics are going to be with us into the future. Which leads us to a question, what happens to "Joe Public ?." Millions will not be affected, but what about the ones who are?. I'm not thinking so much about health which has priority but looking more towards those coming under financial stress with job losses worldwide. Taking stock of where we are and what we can do can produce Victors, not Victims.

Can We Change Things?

If we're in a Democratic Country, we can vote and possibly change a Government or President to one we feel would be suitable for our Country.
To be clear that I don't propose or want to delve into Politics, but for the sake of my blog, it's relevant to the final message.

Many years ago I was in London for a week and having breakfast in a Hotel. A couple of tables away, I heard two elderly American ladies "giving it large" for all to hear, about our Queen and Buckingham Palace. On no account did they want to be near the Queen or Buckingham Palace. Halfway through my breakfast I very nearly went to their table and said to the one with the loudest voice "Madam this is our Queen your talking about !! you don't have to see Her or visit Buckingham Palace. 😊😊😊 They must have been Republicans 😊 Any Democrats reading this 😊

2016 We had a Referendum in the U.K. Yes or No to leave or stay in the E.U.,
the result was leave by a majority of around 4%. ( I voted to leave ).
It's strange, but I always thought that people accepted majority decisions, I was initially shocked to find that there was unbridled anger towards those who had voted to leave and a determination to get the Referendum reversed. As the smoke started to clear it appeared in general terms that it was the younger generation (voted remain) v, the older generation (voted leave). The older generation, branded as being senile, didn't realize what they had voted for, "the wheelchair brigade" was another descriptive used the younger know better than their elders. Tremendous effort has been made over the last three years to prevent "Brexit" from taking place. Parliament itself has not functioned as it should due to the "manipulations" of some members.

Finally, the election last October gave the current Prime Minister sufficient power to move matters forward. I feel saddened that such enmity against the elderly reared its head and confirmation that many of those elected into Government lacked integrity.

Answering Question: "Can, We Change Things." There are Yesses, and No's

1. World Events: No We can't change what's happening around the world

2. Your Government or President: Yes if you can vote, but you can't control what
they do afterwards

3. Yourself: If there is a need to change, we can change with the will to change.

The Two Worlds:

Real World
We know that in our real world, the realities are with us and have to do our daily due diligence. From experience, I'm aware that finance can be a prime requirement of lots of families. Current events with the Coronavirus is causing massive economic stress for Businesses and employees. Also, it is highlighting the need the think outside of the box. As we all know, the Internet has become an integral part of our lives in effect, is our Virtual World. The "lockdowns", working from home, children's lessons online, people having to cope more with the Virtual World as it has become a necessity in their lives. When the virus threat has passed, I suspect that lessons learnt will gain a foothold in Business and the general public opening up more opportunities for skills in computing

Virtual World.
When I stop and think about the Internet, it amazes me with its value, just at your "fingertips." Or your voice: Hey Google How Far Is It To The Moon:- Distance to the Moon from Earth is 384,400 Km 😊 I'm not planning a trip there now it's too far !!, decided to leave it to the Astronauts!!. There are very few things we can't find out about; Education is unlimited, which brings us closer to W.A. and the environment it has for us to work together.

Conclusion:

Without doubt, there will be members of W.A. far more knowledgable than myself reading my blog, and it's to you I will be looking for help in filling in the gaps of understanding I have of Internet Marketing. Apart from gaining knowledge, it's important to feel "safe and welcome". Back in the Real World, I found it very strange to be subject to the abuse heaped upon the elderly after the Referendum. While I would say we're not all perfect within the W.A community, it's a great environment with a common aim build on your knowledge and help others do the same.
