Help find my wings and fly.
If I only knew how to write. I feel like the scare crow from "The Wizard of Oz" if I only had a brain for writing, I could write some killer posts to my website and get tons of traffic. But alas, I feel like a little birdie trapped in a cage. From what I have been reading, it is best to write from the heart, with your audience in mind of course. I am afraid to speak my heart in fear that people might view me as ignorant or downright crazy.
I want to break free from this cage. I want to find my wings and fly. I am making it a goal to write a blog post on WA at least once a week. Whether you think I am crazy or not. I am going to speak my mind, within professional courtesy limits of course, and I am hoping that within time I can grow my writing wings and soar like an eagle.
Any tips on writing from the WA community would be greatly appreciated. Don't be afraid to criticize my work either, I will not take it the wrong way. I will understand that you arw trying to help, so criticize away my friends.

Hey Tim. Nothing makes me happier than helping out those who think they can't write! Newsflash my friend....just from reading these three paragraphs of yours, I can say with great confidence that you KNOW how to write and you write VERY WELL! Something happens to us when we sit to down to write a post for our website though. We can get all perfectionistic and uptight and of course, this stops the flow of anything half decent from coming through. My advice to you...pretend you are in a safe and cozy cave, fire's crackling, and you are simply putting some thoughts down on paper..relaxed like...no pressure...just chatting with a friend. Any edits can be made later. Just begin...and if you need more inspiration, go hang out on my website for a bit. Lots of tips for writers and artists there. Action tends to calm those fears. Warmly, Heather :-)
Your post gives me a very warm feeling indeed Heather. I can already feel the gates opening and have thought of a few subjects for more blogs. I will take your advice and visit your site. I can use all the help I can get for now. Also, thank you for the kind compliments, they make me feel that I am on the right track. Many Thanks, Tim
If you need a hand, just gimme a shout...and you are on the right track..for sure, Tim. Warmly, Heather :-)

Hi
This has got to be one of the most common areas of fear/concern experienced by people new to publishing their 1st blogs etc.
What if people think I am stupid?
What if people don't agree with me?
What if they don't like me?
What if my English skills are lacking?
Yes some people will think all of these things. SO WHAT!
However their will be some people who like your style.
People who have less knowledge than you in any particular niche
People who do like you etc.
When people read blog posts they make a connection with the writer whatever the style .
Tim I guess you have friends, family who enjoy your company and I guess there are people you probably know who are OK but you wouldn't particularly want as your best friend.
It is the same in the world of the Internet.
If people don't like your style they can look elsewhere for their information. SIMPLE!
One of the biggest problems I find with beginners to internet marketing is that they do not know who their audience is or have a false belief that the whole world is their potential audience. I am sorry to disappoint anyone but that is just not the case.
For example if I had a general website all about "Sand surfing"
The majority of my audience would be men between the ages of 25-34 ,not married, have a university education and work in a white collar position.
My Tip
For each of the websites I have I create a visitor profile.
This includes information like their sex,age range, whether or not they have a family, their typical interests, their life's issues and concerns etc.
I then find a photo that I think represents this person so they sort of become real in my mind.I then place this information on my whiteboard. I then write my posts with this person in mind.
It really helps one to focus and channel ones writing.
IMPORTANT!
Don't try and copy anyone else's style it will not flow or come naturally
Don't try and be somebody else,
BE PROUD!
BE YOU!
THE REAL YOU!
That is the way you will naturally connect with your audience.
I think one of the biggest reasons WA encourage people to post here within the community is to help build up ones writing experience and confidence. I don't think you lack any ability Tim looking at your written question, confidence with writing will come with time it naturally affects the majority of us at some stage.
take care , Dave
I appreciate your post Dave, it has some excellent pointers in it. Right now I have no idea who I am writing too. I guess that will come with experience. I am just going to try and post to this blog for now, That way I can get more experience and see what people like.
