I know we all need coaching in life. It just makes sense for each of us to get coach, so that they can help us succeed in our endeavors.
Coaching is a real industry and many people are very good at it. We sometimes find that players may be better at playing the actual game than their coach is, but only a coach looking on objectively as a player is playing can see both the good and bad of his players.
We all need someone to help us realize what we want for ourselves. Many times we need a coach to keep us headed toward our goals.
I tell this story to make my point about how important a coach can be: There are two heavyweight champion boxers by the names of Big George Foreman and Ali, both of whom most people have heard of. In 1974, Big George was defeated by Ali and that defeat sent George into retirement. About twenty some odd years later, Big George decided to make a comeback.
What is more important than the fact that he decided to make a comeback, is how he decided to do it. Big George did not go and talk with Ali, the man who beat him, on how to make his comeback. He didn't approach Ali and talk strategy, discuss what it was that he needed to do or ask Ali to show him how to win.
No, what he did was go and speak to the man who coached Ali. George went to the very top, to the guy who taught Ali how to beat him in the first place.
And yup, you guessed it! Under the guidance of his coach (well, originally Ali's coach), Big George was able to regain the heavyweight title of the world!
We just need to get the right coaching that will help us get from point A to point B and reach our goals. And as our goals change, or we change, we may even need to change our coach from time to time.
