Easy To Become Discouraged As A Beginner
Okay, so I have now been a member of Wealthy Affiliate for about a month. I must admit that the last couple of weeks have been full of stress and discouragement. Don't get me wrong, I love WA, and I feel like I am making a lot of progress. At this point, there is no way I am going to quite. I have put way too much effort and work into my website. I can't imagine going back, and I do feel this is a good way to make some money. Maybe even one day becoming my main source of income.
At the same time though, It is a lot to take in. And, things do not always go as planned. For instance, I finally got my site built out enough that I felt I should try to get some affiliates. First thing I checked into was Amazon. Unfortunately, because of where I live, I could not become an affiliate of them. This was a huge disappointment as I was planning on using them a lot. So, I started looking elsewhere. I signed up for a couple of affiliate networks. Then, began trying to find affiliates in those networks. My first three applications were turned down without even being reviewed. I guess because my site does not get enough traffic yet.
Thankfully the very next day, I was approved by my first affiliate. I was so excited. Since that time I have been able to become an affiliate for six more companies. This was a huge boost for me. I felt much better about everything.
But, about the time I started feeling better about this, I noticed that absolutely none of my content was ranking well in Google. I mean nothing. I guess, from all of the research I have done, that this is pretty normal for a site as new as mine. However I did find this super discouraging. I am getting absolutely no traffic from search engines. I am only getting traffic from WA, and people I tell about the site.
So, now I am getting into Social Media. For me this is another challenge. I have never been big on social media. I am really excited about getting into it. But, before this week I didn't even have an account for any of them. Now, I do have everything set up, but it can be tough to look at my followers and see 0. I know that it will take time to build up, so I am trying to stay focused, and optimistic.
The reason I decided to write this is because I'm sure I am not the only one who feels this way. Many of us are doing things that we never dreamed we would do. I have learned the value during this time of being active at WA. This way you are able to see people having the same problems as you, and being able to overcome them. Sometimes you are even able to help someone with an issue you just faced. This has helped me to stay focused and motivated. This type of business will take time to build up, and I know that. I constantly try to remind myself to focus on that. I am trying to view it as a fun challenge. I am sure that soon I will see all my hard work pay off.

I know this feeling all to well and I sympathize with you on it. Sure any business in the "Beginning Phase" has to be built. Although you have learned a lot there is always room for growth in what you do. Blogging with relevance helps out with the traffic and share your blogs. If you don't have one already get you a G+ account and share your content there. Since Google+ is a part of Google you have a better chance at rankings.
Be vigilant and stay with it for the long haul. Frustration is such a thing you can use for motivation, if you don't become frustrated you have not accomplished anything. Use it. Just like you said when you were frustrated about Amazon, what happened next??? One door closes and more opened up. Take your time, be yourself, learn at your pace and pieces wil start coming together. The keyword here is perseverance, without it, failing and quitting becomes options 1&2.
Last but not least remember what you wants to achieve when you came here. You were looking for something, you wanted a change and you made a commitment to yourself. Hold yourself accountable and push yourself to great lengths and when you need extra motivation guess what, you have a whole network of Affilites here that will motivate and inspire you. We have your back!!! Now pick up that bike and get back on.
This is very True Lamont. I'm starting to learn that being the best, or even good at anything in life takes determination and will, and work that a lot of people simply don't want to put in. As much as we would like for it to happen overnight... it simply doesn't.. and that's what's hard to come to terms with at first. Failing stings, but the more you read about a successful persons experience, the more you realize that it's a long road.

Yeah, I have begun to figure that out. Just wanted to vent some of my stress through a blog post. Thanks for the reply. Its always nice to know that others are dealing with the same issues.

You are definitely not alone!! Thank you for this post. I bought my domain on Friday after a lot of discouragement of not being able to buy one I really wanted. Set up my site and made a few blog posts then invited my social media peeps to check it out and nothing from anyone. I believe in what I am doing and i am going to keep moving forward. I can completely understand your discouragement. I've learned that things don't always go as expected. But just about the time I get discouraged something happens to give me a little boost. Many times this comes from something completely unexpected. Keep up the good work and stay positive. I'm sure you will do great.
