Uncategorized - Delete or Edit Options
Hey all,
This is a quick one, as I was helping someone in Chat today who was questioning how to get rid of the Category "Uncategorized."
I have done this in the past, so I thought I would just quick verify if it can still be done. It can.
You CAN change the Uncategorized Category if you don't want it.
You do NOT need tech support for this.
Here's a visual (sorry it's a bit blurry):
Some people have the 'delete' button and some do not. I don't know why, but it doesn't matter.
All you need to do is click on 'Quick Edit' and change the Category name to whatever Category you want it to be!
So, either way, you can get rid of the "Uncategorized."
Change away!

No problem! I had seen it come up a few times this past week. I think because some people don't have an actual 'delete' button. But it's still a super easy fix to get rid of it, if you prefer.
I always change mine. I think 'uncategorized' sounds 'unimportant.' Everything should have a real Category. Just my opinion, and some people prefer to leave it and use it. That's fine, too :-)
I did, too, but I noticed on my newest site that there is no delete, so I get why the person in Chat was confused when I said just delete it. It seems that delete may no longer be an option(?) There is still an edit option though.
I haven't noticed this problem. last month I build the new site and I also changed the Uncategorized directly to a new category name.
Yes, the edit feature is still there, but the actual 'delete' button (in the picture above) is no longer there, causing some confusion for people trying to get rid of it. They just need to use 'edit' instead and change :-)
