Seriously...... I Feel Like A Tortoise
Getting traffic from Google is definitely not a sprint. I'm at just over one year with my website. Doing all the right things re SEO'ing the bejayzus out of each and every post, however, organic traffic is still inching along at a slow pace.
It IS improving month on month but boy it's slow and more boring than watching paint dry. I'm in a health/medical niche and can only assume the Google update last year has contributed to how slowly it is assigning traffic to my site.
I'm glad I'm able to make more progress with Pinterest or I would be going mad by now and questioning if anything I write is of interest to anyone at all anywhere in the world.
One encouraging thing I read recently on a blog here, (sorry I can't remember who posted it) is that Google doesn't fully optimize your post until it is approximately 9 months old.
After reading this, I checked out my posts that are receiving organic traffic and it seems that some of my older posts have started ranking a bit better in the last couple of weeks. So this 9 month thing does seem to hold merit.
I'm hoping it has a snowball effect, albeit a slow snowball, and other posts keep moving up the rankings.
Anyone else having this experience?

This just seems to be the way of it. I am way behind you on time and input so at this stage I don't have to worry too much about this aspect - I am still tortoise in the writing content stage! Regards Mike
Hi Ann, if it's any consolation my site is also in the health niche, like you it's slow slow slow! I did notice a pick up when i started searching for health blogs. I left a comment where i could leave one,including a link to my site i also added my site to Google business, suddenly i had a burst of traffic........

I am hoping for the snowball effect too, I get some traffic from my social media sites and a couple of sales too but from Google not so much. Anyway, working and patience is the name of the game.
