I have not made a dime (yet), and why I still love doing this.

We make billboards on the side of an endless electric highway.

I just heard that at a convention I went to for my "real" job. It really put it in perspective for me. It makes it sound daunting of course. I mean how the hell are we going to compete. Why even try. We should just let Amazon and the 5 big dogs run the internet while we wake up at 5 am every morning, get stuck in traffic, have the boss give you a dirty look because you missed 15 minutes of a morning meeting, think of ways to make yourself and your staff more productive when we all know what that really means, grind through the day, stay a little later than everyone else to make yourself look good but you are not really doing anything other than sending out a couple emails and watching fail videos on Youtube because you are brain fried, leave and get stuck in traffic again, pick up your daughter late for sports and get the disappointed look from her as she sighs and says it's okay, get home, make dinner, clean up, have 2 or 3 stiff drinks, go to bed, and do it all over again the next day dreaming of the weekend.

Okay that sounded depressing. But we are not accepting that are we. If you are here and reading this, I know that and I love it.

There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I actually have a few websites out there. I do not only use this platform. I have made a few bucks but I have never made a profit from what I put into it. I can tell you though every time I make any sale it is the best money I have ever made. That 4 dollars I made selling a t shirt feels like a thousand dollars to me, because it makes me feel like I broke the cycle that I whined about in the first paragraph of my little blog here. I always have an inner smile knowing I own a few spots on this massive internet. And it is all mine. I can work as hard or as little as I want. I have read, trained, went to college, have certifications, many things to make myself successful which guarantees nothing but I am out there. And being in the great game is freedom.

That is what it is about. One reason I like this platform is doing the comments on other peoples pages. I have actually read some great things on your websites. I should be commenting and reading more and I will. I would have never found your websites if not for this most likely. And there is a lot of value with what you all create! There are people out there that appreciate what you do. I try to make a point of seeing what you all have to offer before I go to the giants of the internet. I know how making 4 dollars feels like 1000 dollars because you did it yourself. It makes me happy to know I can do that for you.

It has been proven that when people actually hit their goal they feel happy, but then feel lost. What the heck am I going to do now? Meaning happiness is in the work. Happiness is the journey and not the destination.

Love your billboard on the endless electric highway. If you do others will. It is all yours no matter what money you make. I hope you do though ;).
