Mistakes Are Part Of Life
We all make mistakes from time to time.
Mistakes in running our business...
Mistakes in our day-to-day lives...
And yeah, sometimes really Big Mistakes that have a huge impact upon our lives or the lives of others.
Those are the ones we try hard to avoid...Life altering mistakes.
Generally, though, mistakes are not something to be dreaded, but may be looked upon as something to learn from and go on with our lives.
Recently my sometimes entourage and I decided to go to the movies.
Though this does not occur frequently, the decision is nonetheless fraught with difficulties, due to the fact that movie selections have different start times, and people have different movie preferences.
Not everyone likes scary movies. So, these were bumped off the docket at the outset. (Much to my chagrin!)
We ended up seeing a movie I was actually quite familiar with, called "Manchester By The Sea." I was familiar with it because I had already seen it, but sometimes you take one for the team.
The movie starred Casey Affleck, whom I assumed to be Ben Affleck's son. A quick Google told me that he is actually Ben Affleck's younger brother.
Ain't Google wonderful?
Years ago, I would have gone on believing this kid was Ben Affleck's son, until one day, in conversation, somebody shouts out, "No, you idiot, Casey Affleck is Ben Affleck's brother!"
Nowadays, I avoid all this humiliation by Googling things I'm not certain about, and consider myself quite a storehouse of the mundane.
Anyway, we went to see the Manchester movie, which I may be considered quite an expert on now, having seen it one and a half times.
Yes, I fell asleep halfway through the movie this time.
My companions had the good grace not to jab me in the ribs with an elbow, because, chances are, I was probably snoring!
But, to tie this in to my original discussion, the movie is kind of about making mistakes, and how it can affect our lives.
In this case, the mistake is the big, life-altering kind, which I won't go into in detail, so as not to spoil the movie for those of you who may wish to see it.
Though the Affleck character was probably an alcoholic before his mistake, his issues are certainly exacerbated by what happens to him in his life, due largely to his own actions.
We all came out of the movie going, "Wow, that was kind of a downer!"
Not that it's a bad movie, mind you. It won many awards, including several best actor awards for Affleck.
I knew that, though. Like I said, I saw it twice (Well, some of it, anyway), and I Googled it!
Learn from your mistakes, and move on.
And be judicious and try not to make the big mistakes...They can really screw up your life!

I usually learn from my mistakes, the ones that are dangerous. There are some things that I keep doing over and over and then get annoyed. I decide to do better.

Great post Rick! We all make our share of mistakes and if we own up to them and learn from them they can prove to be invaluable!
A very thought provoking piece. It is important to note that mistakes can be life threatening and cause even death so it is important to learn from others . Do not ignore warning and teachings. You will become a fool.
Wise words from Theodore!
Hindsight shows me that correcting many mistakes made by an extremely naive newbie in my offline business (me!) turned it into a successful concern.
I fully expect to fall down a few cracks on my way to climbing the online mountain. But boy it has been such fun so far! Many thanks, Sue :)
