In the UK and since 2010 John Lewis (a long established upmarket retail company) first introduced stunning, feel good, tear jerking Christmas Ads, in particular Man on The Moon, (reaching out to single and the seniors in our life) & Monty the Penguin
It is much anticipated and a lot of money is spent on both the advert and how it’s good to help others. No advert comes close in terms of anticipation. It is a national media event in its own right, with massive income and revenue coming in as a result of their astounding campaigns. John Lewis like many high street stores is struggling. John Lewis however not quite so much and it is with their incredible campaigns (amongst other heart felt support) that keep the company very dear to our heart and as a result profitable in an otherwise sinking market.

What has that to do with us, WA, well aside from starting your day feeling warm and fuzzy, —-I believe, the hugely talented advertising company ”Adam & Eve” have a lot to teach. I feel the anticipation is important, as is the story and narrative behind it. Look at Black Friday annual membership, we started talking about this back in August, and by the time it arrives on the 29th we will not only feel and believe we have done the right thing for our business it is also assuring our hosts longevity and way forward.
So I guess now I have to look at when I start my ad campaigns I will have to think John Lewis.
