Getting downhearted? Want proof that WA really works? Read on...
I just found one of the products I'm promoting on PAGE 1 of Google for my MAIN SEARCH TERM, in position 5.
Now it's not likely to be a major selling product so there will be much fewer people searching for it than for, say, an iPhone but that's the important point: As a lot of you know I'm putting together a mobile phone website promoting mobile phone contracts, specific to the UK (as you can't get a mobile phone contract unless you reside in the same country).
The point is this. I've entered the fray with a view to building a large authority-type site from scratch, in a niche that is probably one of the most competitive in the world. EVERYBODY thinks I am completely mad to even attempt this, friends and experts alike, yet there's my product being advertised on Google ON THE FIRST PAGE!
It SITS ABOVE three of the major UK mobile phone networks' own websites!
I specifically don't want to post the actual site on here because it's a niche which, being heavily contested, also promotes a higher than average amount of the wrong type of people, e.g. hackers, so I'm afraid you will have to take my word for it but to achieve this in just a few months on a site that is a long, long way from being anywhere near the finished article I think is remarkable, even if I do say so myself.
How? I followed the training. I did the article research, by reading similar articles on similar sites, and I used Jaaxy to research the keyword, using long tail keywords.
To date I have only had a few minor sales paying the equivalent of around $22 but the important thing to take from this message is if I can achieve page 1 in a notoriously difficult sector, YOU can do ANYTHING. Just keep going, keep on believing, have faith in yourself and in what is on offer here and follow the training. The rest will fall into place.

OK Gary....I am going to take your advice. I was only discouraged *quite frankly* because it was Kyle that said it. If someone else had said this...it probably wouldn't have mattered so much. But....since I blogged about it....and read what you have to say....I am going to do this anyway. Just like you said....if others can do it.....Why can't I?

I'm not suggesting you disregard what Kyle says, after all he is already very successful. The route I have chosen is not an easy one - but then if it were easy everybody would be doing it. The commissions can be high in some of the competitive niches, in mine it can be between (the UK equivalent of) $50-$150 per sale and I would rather chase one sale worth $50 or more than try to get a whole bunch of sales worth a few cents or a dollar or two each.
The other important point is that I don't need hundreds of sales to make a decent living out of it - so I don't have to take on and beat the major sites. Just a tiny slice of the pie could net me over $1,000 a week!
A lot of my inspiration comes from a book by UK author Antony Barlow, titled "Building An Online Cash Cow". It can be found on Amazon and greatly compliments the teachings here, and helps to put everything in an easy to follow format which you can use as a reference guide. In fact I bought the book shortly before I found WA and I highly recommend it.
The author advocates building a large authority site rather than smaller, niche type sites and recommends writing three posts a day - that way you have a 1,000-article website within 12 months. You don't have to do it that quickly of course but the point is if you build it and build it big you will have a large, authority type site sooner or later which (in theory) will start to rank well simply because of the sheer volume of content. Look at all the Page-1 ranked sites and the depth of content they have. You will rarely find a site with just a few pages.
The other thing is with a small niche you may be limited by the number of people interested in that niche. For example, only a limited number of people will be interested in, say, horses but with a popular niche, like smartphones for example, well most people have got one so if you can build a large enough quality site you have an audience of tens of millions even in a small country like England. That's the basis I'm working on, and as I said earlier I only need a small slice of a very large pie to earn a very good living.
Maybe it won't work and I will have to find a different niche but I'm sure as hell going to give it a go.

Cheers George. There's a long way to go and I don't always have a lot of time to spend on it, hence the reason I'm not around here as often as I was earlier, but it's the first real sign of positive progress - proof that it is all possible.
Such encouraging words, coolcity. :) I really needed to hear this...it's very timely for me. I've just been told that my niche is too broad *after spending many weeks on building my site* I am devastated. But, I am sure that I will figure something out. Take Care...Melanie
Melanie, I was told the same thing and you know what, I just looked at all the other sites in the same niche - particularly those at the top of the rankings - and I said to myself, "You know what Gary, they did it so there is no reason why you can't do it too".
Keep going, keep building it and don't think short term - what have you achieved in your life that only took you "weeks" to achieve? Very little I'm guessing! I know this is going to take months, maybe even a few years to build into something special but I'm not stopping for anybody.
I've known for a long time this stuff works but it's good to see consistent updates like these of WA members proof and experiences!

Thanks Wendy. I've been there and done that with education, pretty much the same as you mention in your own intro. this is what I have always wanted to do since buying my first computer though. It took me years to find WA but I've always known this is the place. Great to read that you are doing so well too!

Yes there is a lot to take in, one step at a time and don't try to rush it. My best advice to everybody who has just joined is to take up the discounted first month offer. It gives you plenty of time to look around and take it all in, but from therein you will see it is a total no-brainer.
