Don't Sell Your Customers, Enchant Them!

I saw this picture and had to use it for this blog post. I am not an American, but from this side of the pond, they seem to be the most enchanting presidential couple the world has known. You might disagree, and that's OK.

One of the podcasts I've been listening too is from a gentleman called Leslie Samuel ( Become a Blogger .com) He's a genuine blogger that is worth following, and provides great value to the listeners. Anyway he was interviewing someone called Guy Kawasaki who has written a book called "Enchantment".

The book basically details how clients will be drawn to you by the value you provide them with, and you don't need to sell on products and services, you just need to provide them with such tremendous value that they know like and trust you, and they will take a look at any product or service you recommend, because they know you have their best interests at heart.

So by building solid relationships with your customers, they will buy because they enjoy being part of who you are, and know what to expect when anything is presented to them. ( I hope I'm making sense here????).

In the interview, Guy gives quite an interesting example. He tells the story of when he met Richard Branson.

Guy was introduced to Richard Branson, and they exchanged pleasantries. Mr Branson then asked Guy if he had ever flown with Virgin at all, to which Guy said "no".

Richard Branson then got on his knees, and proceeded to clean Guys shoes with his Jacket!!! Needless to say, Guy flies Virgin as much as he can now!

When I heard this story, my draw dropped. Of course you would fly Virgin for evermore! You've been enchanted by Richard Branson!

So the question is can we enchant our customers so they will always buy from us because we have enchanted them with something so amazing, that they have to remain our customers.

Lets look at our blog posts, our videos, our info graphics, and all the other content we put out. Will it enchant our readers? Do our readers know, like, and trust us enough to be enchanted.

Be Enchanting!

Namaste!

Colin, Great way to look at things. THANKS.
Barbara

YES the effective way to make a sale is to "enchant" the customers deepest desires to buy!

I don't think I ever heard anyone use the word "enchant" , when talk about potential customers. It's as if we want to have them spellbound....but in a good way. I love it!

I'm going to miss Barack Obama. Thanks for sharing, Colin.
