Experiencing Tropical Storm Harvey
Tropical storm Harvey brought the longest display of severe lightning and the loudest thunder I have ever experienced.
Many people expressed fear from the loud thunder that rattled their buildings. I spent the entire night listening to radio reports.
We did not experience the wind because our house is in the middle of a hill and is quite sheltered, plus the house is built of 14 inch coral stone blocks; so I was surprised to see reports of a church and several houses loosing their roofs.
Flooding in specific areas caused the most damage, My sister works at a private villa on the west coast and her office was flooded with over 12 inches of dirty water and debris.
The official –all clear.- was given on Friday at 12 noon, when residents were allowed back on the roads. Only emergency services are allowed on the public roads before an –all clear is given.
The opening ceremony for the festival was postponed until Sunday and hopefully all programs will begin on Monday.
There are some wonderful art from across the Caribbean on exhibition. I am anxious to visit my largest sculpture to date that sits in the local central bank building; it was bought over 30 years ago.

Hurricanes are so unpredictable. All you can do is prepare for them and ride it out or evacuate. Lived by the Atlantic ocean and experienced many a hurricane over the years
Just for 2 days and damage was minimal. but from where I am staying I just experienced thunder and lightning.

Glad to hear you did not experience any damage.
I thought Harvey was finished, noy it seem to pose a danger to the US mainland, and much stronger than when it passed through Barbados.
