The Reason I Left My Facebook Personal Account For Awhile

Last November 13, I posted an update for my friends of 4,917 letting them know that I will be leaving Facebook for awhile because I'm getting busy with Wealthy Affiliate.

Facebook is a powerful tool for recruiting people to WA if you know how. But it can be also annoying, if you are starting like an underdog in online attraction marketing.

While others are spending huge amount of money in paid ads, there are a few of us who have been taught online attraction marketing strategies that are for free.

Just a little patience and willingness to be-friend strangers, you can turn a recruiter for other companies into becoming your follower in any business you want to promote.

The key is positioning yourself as someone who can help the other fellow in any struggle he has in online marketing, and I bet, most people have their own struggles.

Posture. Becoming an Alpha Networker.

For people who are starting out good, let's say for example, good looking marketer enjoying material stuff. It doesn't matter if you got the car or house beside you before or after you started your online business, what's important is you make yourself attractive to your prospects.

The problem is, if you start doing online marketing when you're broke.

A few online attraction marketing systems claim that, regardless of background you have, that even if you are dirt poor, if you just cling to their system, they system will carry you like a bird on top of a Hippo.

Well, I tried that strategy, and sadly, I ended up making myself further broke.

I paid a total of X fortune in one year time paying the attraction marketing system thinking I "piggy-back" on their existing strength and success. I guess, the amount of money I've spent, if were only invested buying stocks of a proven business, I should be wealthy by now.

Now back to the topic of Facebook marketing...

The key is "establishing connection". It works way better than splattering your affiliate links in Facebook spam groups.

"Hi Joe, Gomer here and I see that you sent me a friend request. May I know how you found me and what inspired you to add me as a friend? Thanks."

(Then connect. Help the struggling marketer)

Sounds a good plan? But what if, the people you think of using that strategy are as good as you, or even better than you?

Like for example, a marketer with screenshots of big earnings, with luxury car parked right beside him, and is more determined to get you than you getting him. lol

That's the problem now with building a business via social networking.

It's like a "tug-of-war" game that whoever has the strongest feeling of himself, wins. A game of magnets where the stronger magnets win over the weak ones.

My prospect today, my recruit today, will surprise me by tomorrow recruiting me to his. How can you accumulate capital when all we do is give a new business a favor of joining his in return of joining yours?

Join here, join there, join this, join that, soon you will find yourself out of cash and broke!

Crazy business.

And if you don't give the new business partner a favor to join his, you will be labeled having an "upline-downline syndrome". Someone who never wants to be a downline, always wanting to stay an upline.

That forced me throw in the towel and call it quits. Facebook one on one recruiting is no longer for me!

"Enough!! I will go inbound... Inbound marketing.", I said to myself.

As opposed to the hunter stance, inbound marketing puts you in the position of a fisherman. Let the interested and the most qualified come to me!

And that's how Wealthy Affiliate fits in. Blogging and SEO.

I will surely miss my friends, those real friends whom I connect outside business topics. My relatives and loved ones. But this is the best way I can think of.

My downlines in MLM will surely dislike what I did. Maybe because, I left them just before they invite me to join their new MLMs. (sorry, I read your thoughts ahead of your plan! lol)

It is OK To Be Snob (When Needed)

So, now, we're here. Never caring if I am not the most responsive to messages of referrals posing as interested when in fact they are just prospecting me to theirs.

I am here to attract, the truly interested. Interested in building a long term online business, with Wealthy Affiliate.

And if a person proved to me that he's truly interested, that he never plan of recruiting me to the next MLM launching, I will reciprocate as the most dedicated online business coach you'll ever meet.

(I stay as late as 3:00 AM coaching beginners)

Hey Gomer, that is actually a very interesting term you wrote about , 'uplink-downline syndrome' As you said, it's a culture of its own going on.

I can say that I too had my fair share of that experience. When it comes to marketing, your own biiz, you will find others marketing theirs to you.At the end of the day, there is one thing more precious than money that I lost and that is 'time.'

Anyway lesson learned,
Cheers

Yeah, you got it, my friend! Time! Which is equivalent to gold! Hence, time is gold!

I remember, when I was still active in offline MLM, we would usually contact members of other companies posing as an innocent opportunity-looking prospect. We would arrange a meeting in a restaurant so the other person will explain the business to us, not knowing it is us who want to get him to our team. Funny thing is, meetings would usually end in us telling the other person, "Thanks, but we're focused in our biz", and the other person telling us, "Me too, I'm focused in my own business, I can't join yours."

That is an interesting story Gomer, so at the end of the day you guys ended up losing a considerable amount of time.

I think where I lost time in the MLM game back in the day, was having those house 'seminars' and having snacks and drinks for potential prospects, only to hear later on, that 'they are going to think about it.' And I never hear from them again.

I too was disappointed by Facebook. One waste of time and money

Facebook users are usually image inclined. They don't tend to have time of reading posts. When you post a good stuff for a five-minute reading after a minute they have liked it. So you know they did not read it but they just want to please you or send the message that I have noted your post.

Yes, game in Facebook is more on images. It's the modern equivalent of olden day photo albums we have in living rooms laid out for the visitors to see.

You will appreciate my post if you are in the MMO niche, or Make Money Online niche...

In my case, majority of my friends, around 3,000+ out of 4,900 are online marketers and network marketers. From the famous top earners, founders of companies, leaders and their downlines, I have befriended them all.

Take aside the big earners, for usually you can't easily invite them to your new business opportunity. It's the middle ranking leaders and their followers that we usually attract. We usually have long chats via old Facebook messaging system or Messenger, and I have gained a lot of sign ups that way in my former MLM business.

The problem is, new opportunities pop up everyday. New MLM companies launching, that if you have a new recruit for WA, that new recruit will have a hard time to focus on WA business unless he turn his back to Facebook. Lots of distraction.

My new downlines' heads are turning round and round like helicopter rotors, confused which new opportunity to hop on next.

If you are building a team, you will find that the person you have recruited to your team today, will be coming by tomorrow wanting you to recruit to his newly discovered MLM business opportunity.

How can you build a business with that environment? How can you assemble a team when it's like a bucket with a hole that anything you put in to your bucket drops via the hole at the bottom?

To me, it's more of a culture that's developing in there. You either become a snob person with upline-downline syndrome, or completely turn your back from there and just do inbound marketing like blogging and SEO.

Wow, I like the way how you picture Facebook with the old photo albums and yes it's true. Most people losses the interest of photo printing because of the presence of Facebook. Even me if I know the person is a Facebook user I just upload the picture for her/him.

In business top earners surely will not stoop to online newbies. As for me I just hope I can bring the message to those who are seeking on how to start their business online.

Hey Gomer, that's a good head's up! Thank you for sharing.

Thank you. I hope you enjoyed reading it, and got some tips. :)

Was so helpful....I like your posts...it encourages me being new here...

FB is like any other distraction Gomer. See my post on addiction tonight!

Okay. That's exciting!! :)
