Hello experts, this question or idea might sound weird to you, but after searching on Google if I can find an article that discusses this, I am disappointed that I didn't find

Are you thinking of Pinterest? If so, just add as featured image and it'll be fine. No need to include it within the post.

By the way, another reason I want it that way is, I have a CTA button placed atop of the blog post right after the heading that ask the reader to subscribe to my posts (RSS to email). Having a big featured image atop of it may look the section too crowded.

Hi - it looks like you can do it with coding, there is a reference to it in this article.

However, I don't see it as a problem. The majority of sites all have the Featured Image at the top, I don't think readers even notice, they are there to read the content.

It's not mentioned as part of the user experience, and it makes no difference to ranking.

Okay. Thank you. Maybe a matter of personal preferences. I checked out the blog of the person who introduced me here in WA, he's a super affiliate here, his name is Dale, his blog posts don't have big featured images atop of them.

Oh, I think I misunderstood. What you are saying, is that you are OK with the Featured Image appearing above each post on the home page.

But once you click on the post, you don't want it repeated above the text? Yes, that's fine to do that. It may be dependent on your theme as to how you achieve it though.

Yes. But consider this question done as I have found a plugin just few moments ago that fixed it up. It hides the featured image in all single post except in categories and blog roll. The plugin is called "Hide Featured Image". But I am afraid this will make my site slow down a bit as the plugin is already 8th in the list of plugins running actively in my site. :(

Glad you found an answer. The number of plugins doesn't matter, as long as they are lightweight and regularly updated.

Try testing your speed with and without it.

I normally put it at the top, Gom.
Maybe this quick tutorial helps? Joe

Thanks. I used to. But for some reasons, I'm thinking of a change. I've seen some top marketers doing it. But I need to confirm first with the experts here if the practice I'm thinking is OK.

In short, it's not ok to do so.
You put a call to action (sign up to newsletter, gift or an ask to share on social media, etc..) at the end of your blog post.

OK. Thanks for your opinion.

One alternative that I am thinking of is, maybe I can use the featured image in the blog post to appear in social media (when shared to Facebook or Twitter) but not on the blog post.

I wonder if that's OK too. (Or not OK)

Yes, that's a possibility you can choose for, just make sure your blog post has pictures (or a video) in it. People are visual by nature and break the text, helps with the ease of reading. Another important factor, Google ranks your pictures too.
