Frustrated

I'm aware that we want to write mostly about the positive aspects of online marketing in our blogs. However, I need to vent a bit.

My website, www.poocharama.com is now over 1 year old. I have 70 posts full of good, useful information and over 100,000 words. In addition, I have 300 comments.

Not one speck of traffic. No post is anywhere to be found in the first 2 or 3 pages of Google. For that matter, not even in the first 10 pages.

I must be doing something wrong.

Has anyone experienced this? I hear about members of WA who write a post and the next day it's on page 1 of Google. How does this happen?

Thanks for listening!

I did a quick scan of your site using SEMRush and Ubersuggest.

Here is what SEMRush shows as your top ranked keywords. Your top ranked keyword is cartoon humping. Ubersuggest showed your top keyword as ultra paws fleece lined reflective comfort coat for dogs

Hi Glen:

Cartoon humping. That's funny. Thanks!

Don't quit When You're 3 feet from gold. Check some of the different things suggested. There is always an answer here.

Thank you!

You are to close to quit. It takes time for your site to do some traveling around the internet picking up followers. :)

Thanks!

Apart from too many links which someone has mentioned below, have you copied the comments under the products from the Amazon reviews? If so, Google will likely see this as duplicate content and be penalising you for that. Just an idea. I like your site. Between everyone here I'm sure if you implement the advice your page rankings will see a difference. Also check out Jay's training this Friday, I forget exactly what it is but it's about improving our sites, and he also has a LOT of trainings on rankings if you haven't seen those.

Thank you Avecita!

I would recommend individual product reviews with only one or at most two affilaite links. I would not recommend a bunch of different product links on one post. I think this is one reason you are not ranking. the other one is to do the low hanging fruit method of keyword research on every post moving forward until you start to rank on the first page of Google. One more suggestion is that I believe your header image is too big. I have to scroll down to read any content, and people simply don't like to do that and Google is aware of that.

Thanks Ramr50 - great points!

Your welcome, if you need any extra help with ranking shoot me a PM.

This is confusing; can you explain this post you just published in January?

Hmm...just saw that too...contradiction

Hi NewLaurie:

I don't think I really was ranked. What happened was this: On MY computer, I saw that 15 of my posts were ranked high. Later in the day, I went to another computer and they were nowhere to be found and haven't been ever since - not even on my computer

I have no idea how that happened.

Hi again,
Please check the results I got when I did a site research in Jaxxy of your site.

What are your post titles - maybe you can just double check each one in Jaaxy site rank search.

I checked out your site, and as you say, it is really good, (images navigation etc), however, what I noticed three things:

1 - When I clicked on your pages at the top navigation bar, they all showed me blank pages - with the following text:
NOTHING FOUND
Apologies, but no results were found. Perhaps searching will help find a related post.

This is deterrent to readers, remember that if you do not supply the information straight away, readers will leave and find the same info somewhere else.

My suggestion is go and fix this in menu (within WP dashboard) - under the page titles move each of your posts slightly under-hanging the page menu (rectangular boxes - click and drag). This will create a drop down list for your readers to click on.

2. There were not many, if any Call to Action buttons (CTA). I suggest that you try adding some into where you want to prompt people to something specific or when you want them to view a product. At least 2-4 throughout your most important posts would be good.

3. I noted, that in one particular blog, you had more than 5 internal or external links, throughout your content, this too can be a distraction if you have too many. Hence, instead of finishing the article readers may veer off to another post/site and never return to the original post.

I checked your mobile view and that is great, everything is aligned.

Therefore your site is actually wonderful, but it can be further improved with my suggestions above and help you to gain momentum in ranking for your posts.

I hope that this will help to lessen your frustration :)

Saane

Hi Saane:

Thanks for all your help!

When you say Top Navigation Bar, do you mean the Drop-Down Menu? If so, they are all working for me.

How does one install a CTA button?

I've been told about too many affiliate links and am going to fix that.

Thanks for your help and for liking my site!

You are welcome, yes top navigation two pages that shows search menus when you open them up. The message in them will actually stop readers from looking further into your posts as they would not know what to search for.

Do you go incognito when you look at your site? Sometimes to check your website is working properly use incognito, so that you see what readers see.

The navigation should work by people hovering their mouse on those two pages to see the drop downs rather than have to click into the pages to search.
You can PM me if you wish to make it easier, and I can look at your site again after your changes.

Just a reminder not to blog your link it's not allowed in here.

Saane

Either you are doing wrong keyword research or your niche is highly competitive. The latter is the most obvious reason.

Thank you.

Hi Christopher,

Did you just say none of your posts could be found on the first 2 to 3 pages of Google? Because in your January 15 blog "Ranked," you mentioned that 15 of them are ranked on pages 1 and 2 of Google.

I'm confused.

Anyway, here's your blog:

I was wondering about that, too.

Hi Alyssana:

Yes, that's true. But, I don't think I really was ranked. What happened was this: On MY computer, I saw that 15 of my posts were ranked high. Later in the day, I went to another computer and they were nowhere to be found and haven't been ever since - not even on my computer

I have no idea how that happened.

Somebody said that if you really want to see where your posts are, do a search in incognito mode.

I heard that too - thanks!

Hi - I picked a product review at random. https://poocharama.com/dog-mobility-aids-give-your-best-friend-the-gift-of-freedom

It has 1600 words, which means as a maximum, you should have 3 affiliate links ie 1 link for every 500 words.

It has 18 separate clickable links. This means that Google will see it as a "spammy" selling site and put you back in its rankings.

Might I ask where you learned 1 link per 500 words? I don't recall this from the training.

Good point Diane. Thanks!

I would remove the giant picture from your site. Mobile phones are going to have a hard time viewing that, and most blogs today only have a logo next to, or slightly above the menu.

Hope this helps :)

I don't now what theme you have, but some themes, (mostly bought ones I think) allow you to, instead of removing the picture, set an alternative for those viewing on different devices, which will automatically appear to them instead. so you may not have t remove it. It's a lovely picture. (Sorry, this is meant for CMtchell5 obv.) :)

True, but even on a desktop, I am having to scroll down a good deal to read the content. I would shrink regardless of mobile devices.

that's a good point. Shrinking it somewhat would make it better.

Thank you Avecita and for liking my picture. I'll try reducing the size and see what happens.

Hi MoneyMech:

Thanks for your suggestion. Since I'm quite fond of the picture, I'm going to try and reduce its size and see what happens.
