First Sale!

First sale, yay!

I wonder how many WA members have entitled one of their posts ‘First Sale’, or similar, since the great training here inevitably leads to this consequence eventually… And now it’s my turn!

The order came last week and yesterday the order had shipped and my first commission of a generous $5.60 was a fact.

The order came through Amazon.

While struggling to make that first sale happen, one thing I always missed from most posts here dealing with the first sale was those key figures and info, especially info on the website itself, so I will put mine here for those of you who might be interested.

THE ITEM

Affiliate Program: Amazon

Item Sold: Casio Men’s Radio Controlled Wristwatch

Item Revenue: $139.99

Commission: $5.60 (4.00%)

MY WEBSITE

Articles: 16

Articles Indexed in Google: 7

Words: 19,272

Average Traffic / Day: 2-5

Average Ad Clicks / Month: 20-25

For a really long time my traffic was even lower, usually between 0-2 / day, but is has started changing a bit recently.

In general, the numbers above are quite modest, but I spent a lot of time and effort in the beginning trying to make my website appear as attractive as possible, design- and navigation-wise.

So how do I feel about my first sale?

Ecstatic!

When I realized an order had been placed through my website, I just couldn’t get my arms down that whole day!

The following days I constantly logged on to see how much I earned in commission, but it was only yesterday the info was available.

It feels like everything has changed now. I know my website is converting and the hard work I’m investing in it leads to profit.

So to all frustrated WA members out there, still waiting for that magical moment to happen, keep going.

When your first sale is suddenly reality, it feels so much better to continue the hard work of developing your website.

It feels like a new era has begun and things will just never be the same again.

Happy Days!

You will always remember the first sale - what was sold, how much it cost, how much you earned.

This isn't a formula business, so the rest of those numbers apply to you, but I wouldn't want others to judge their success or failure based on them. Each site is different.

Congrats!

Thanks, JeannineC!

About the numbers, I agree. You can't really generalize and there's nothing exact about them, but I still think you can use them as guidelines and inspiration.

This is great for 16 articles with only 7 indexed. You are doing well.

Really happy and excited to
see your first sale, Claus

Thank you so much for sharing
key figures/website info.
Most people leave them out.

Although you have shared the
number articles on your website,
you haven't said how many months
old the website is?

I guess you got this result by following
the "Online Entrepreneur Certification"
course?

Also out of the 16 articles, how many
of those are review/info articles?

Have you got this sale as a result of
organic traffic or social media?

Just started following you Claus.
Looking forward to your next WA blog
post on your "first $100 month" :)

Hi midhunvm, thanks for the kind words.

My website launched in January 2019, so it's been online for 4-5 months now.

I can't stress enough how important the training here at WA has been to me, so yes, you are right. I have followed the lessons intensively and come back to them again and again.

About my content, I actually only have 2 review pages and it was one of those that lead to my first sale.

Now I'm thinking of doing more of these.

The sale came from organic traffic. I'm still trying to figure out whether social media is worth exploring, as I've experienced huge traffic from Pinterest, but it didn't lead to a sale.

I'm following you back :)

Hi Claus,

Thank you so much for your reply
-detailed and really helpful.

Pinterest is a really good traffic source.
But the amount of success you get from
it depends on your niche.

Since you have already got huge traffic
from Pinterest, it is better to stick with it
instead of trying out other social media
platforms like facebook, instagram.
