Instant gratification Just add water - Revisited

So a few days ago I blogged about instant gratification and how that is not always the best way to accomplish thing, except maybe instant pancake mix, and how doing things the correct way and taking your time is usually better, more satisfying.

Well, on the way home this evening my 4 year old decided she wanted waffles and bacon for dinner. Perfect, get the pancake mix, add water and I'm good to go hardly any cooking at all, so I told her absolutely we can have waffles, and then....

I open the cabinet and damn, no pancake mix! My night of easy cooking is going out the window, plus she knows how to work daddy, she's already got that pitiful look down pat. So I bust out the flour, eggs, strawberry daiquiri mix(sounded good when I saw it in the fridge), and all the other goodies to make the batter for strawberry waffles.

You know what, another good example of taking the time to do it right and not instantly, made some of the best waffles we've had in a long time. Just another good reminder on why you don't want to rush through the training, just churning out content to populate pages. Take it slow, do it right, and be successful with it, it is definitely worth the time.

Take care.

Good analogy, and you're a wonderful Daddy.

Thanks, I try to be. The other lesson I learned is if we are having that dinner again to do it earlier. While she was taking the last bite it dawned on us that syrup(sugar) makes bedtime a challenge.
