On those Ho-Hum Days

Do you ever feel there are days that you just don't feel like doing anything? Do you feel guilty if you really don't do anything because you just can't? I come across that sometimes myself. What I've come to figure out when this happens is that your body and mind are working together to tell you, YOU NEED A BREAK!

If you don't take those breaks, it leads to wear and tear, causing all of those icky sicky bugs to fester and actually make you sick. Take that day to REST so you can be refreshed and come back to your endeavors on another day. They will still be there when you return.

If you feel like you need to do something productive to keep your motivation up so you don't feel like you are slacking off (that guilty feeling) then take a couple of hours to relax.

Some of the things I do to relax are:

  • take a hot bath with the works - light the candles, nice cup of coffee, add music (yeah guys I'm talking to you too, this is not just a girly thing to do)
  • read a book (and no it doesn't have to be about business, something nice and fluffy works, I like murder mysteries)
  • watch your favorite movie or favorite tv program

These are considered to be very productive to keep motivation up because they are for YOUR WELL-BEING. You will find if you do something for you, even for a little while, your motivation will be back up so you can "get back to it." Sometimes just the little bit of you-time will actually give yourself a feeling of accomplishment.

I absolutely LOVE this, CJ. I wrote a blog about being overwhelmed and I suggested "relaxing" too. You know...it is fine to really push for what you want...but many have said before "Rome wasn't built in a day". As much as we would love for our websites to be up, running, and making money, ASAP.....there are many times...when we push so hard that we are on the edge of....burn out. When burn out happens....then it is not a matter of....take an hour or a day to rest. Then....we have to take a whole lot longer to regroup. Excellent advice that you are giving here....and listen up guys...it would not hurt for YOU to relax as well. *smile* Most people here at WA are so very driven and I admire that (I also qualify) but...as CJ points out...everyone needs to get some rest! Keep up the great work. *Melanie*

I made this post because If you read my progress blog you will see what I did accomplish in 3 days here in just my first update. I was pushing myself too hard. I thought since I was a stay-at-home-mom I had all the time in the world. Well my daughter got sick and I was pushing and pushing for me to get a ton of stuff done and I wore myself out. I had to take my own blog advice and just relax because I was overdoing it even just sitting at my desk reading or watching videos. I did it from morning until the wee hours of the next morning because I wanted to learn, learn, learn so I could make that money.

I agree! I used to think if I was not busy I was not productive, then I would get grumpy and my family would run and hide....now when I am feeling tired and overwhelmed I take a mental break and recoup!

I had to learn this the hard way. Just like you I thought if I'm not doing something I'm not being productive; especially when I was sick . Well I figured out that doing something for me recharged me and got me back on track.
