We know reading books can be awesome, and once you start reading good books, you can get addicted to it

However, there is one Book Trap you should avoid.

READING JUST IN CASE...

Let me explain why this is a trap.

As humans, we have a limited amount of time and while you are doing one thing, another thing is not being done.

As such while reading a good book can be great, you can maximize the effect of what you read by reading the right book that serves you at the right time

Too many times, we start reading a book JUST because it is a best seller and not because we need it at the time... This is not the best use of your time.

You should read books that apply to a problem you are facing at the TIME since we know time is finite and the amount of books you'd read in your lifetime is infinite...

You should read books that help move your life forward at any stage in your life

Here's an example. If you start studying copyrighting, you should read copywriting books at that time and when you are studying persuasion, you should read books that talk about the subject matter at that time

Other book traps to avoid include

- Forcing yourself to read a book you don't like - if you don't enjoy it, drop it and come back later or find something you'd enjoy. Reading should be fun

- Finishing a book after you have gotten the best part of it

- Waiting to start a new book because you have not finished the one you are reading

- Not implementing what you read in books

This applies to non-fiction, And this is not a rule set in stone.

By all means, there are books that are good and not just in time. A perfect example is Poor Charly's Almanack by Charly Munger

Always remember the rule of opportunity cost and the 80/20 paret principle

Time is finite and 20 percent of your effort shuld give you 80 percent of your results.

Try to get the best use of your time by reading books JUST IN TIME and not JUST IN CASE
