My Gift From God
Thank you for the support, I will lean heavily because I need to but when you need to lean on someone, please consider me because I owe you all so much and I have the upmost in respect and love for each and every one of you. Something I leave out way too often is what we owe our beautiful little fur babies. They are the ones that made us strong and loving and the truth is I have never met a cat I didn't love. I will never forget a tiny little kitten so horribly injured that I saw at Vet hospital and no one was in the exam room with him so I went in and sat down next to his enclosure. He saw me and on the one and a half legs he had left he dragged himself over to me and made eye contact with me and I began stroking his tiny head and from that second we never lost physical or emotional contact with each other. The Vet came in and gave him a pain shot and explained that the little guy had to go to kitty heaven. He let me have about a half hour alone with this total stranger kitty. That tiny little being was the bravest animal no matter how big or small I have ever been around and all he ask from me was to maintain eye contact. The time came to end his excrusiating pain. The Vet put him in my hands and we never lost eye contact. The Vet gave him the final shot, I looked in his eyes and then I felt him slightly squeeze my fingers until his eyes closed. I took him home and buried him so deep nothing could dig him up. I've never felt closer to God in my life.

This all happened about 5 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. I wasn't exactly sure how people would react to this but I am so happy most people seemed to react with genuine emotion. It helps me to know most people care about their pets and animals of all kinds.

Thank you so much Elizabeth. Everytime I re-read that blog, all those feelings and emotions come rushing back to me. I consider being able to be there with that brave, beautiful little kitten an honor, something I wouldn't have missed for anything. She showed me what bravery, faith and courage such a small, fragile animal can display. I am so happy she chose me to be there that day. I truly believe that God and that little baby arranged for me to be in the right place at the right time, I will never forget what it felt like to look through her eyes and into her soul. It truly was and always will be a gift from God that has always had such a deep influence on so many parts of my life. I felt so deeply blessed that day as I shared something unworldly with that tiny creature and she gave me the strength and the courage to accompany her at the beginning of her journey. If I have 1/100 th the class she exhibited that day when it's my turn to cross over I will be so proud and satisfied and I pray I can again be with her for eternity. I am going to try and include the feelings and emotions that some people on Facebook wrote about.. God bless the simplest creatures on Earth, I am always overwhelmed by them.
