Inspiration- When It Hits And How Not To Lose It
Yesterday was a rough day for me. I took my 2 teenage daughters to a mall outside of Houstone with over 200 stores! Literally, we spent the day shopping. By the day, I meant over 8 hours of shopping.
And, they loved every minute of it. It's because they were in their element. I let them pick the stores. And, my daughters couldn't be any more different. While one goes for ruffles and lace, the other is a jeans and T-shirt girl. One's a dance, and the other is an artist and gamer.
As for me, I just enjoyed watching them shop. Oh, don't get me wrong. I spent quality time in my favorite bookstore (my go-to happy place).
But, most of all, I observed them and others around me.
And, inspiration hit me!
I learned more about people from observing them at the mall than I did researching online.
Why? It was because I was where they were at.
If you want to gain powerful insight into your audience, hang out where they hang out.
For example, my website is about natural ways to alleviate the aches and pains of lupus.
So, where do I go to find out what concerns lupus sufferers have?
I join lupus Facebook groups. And, what do I discover as I read all of the questions being asked? I find my next post topic.
To illustrate, there's been quite a bit of discussion about intestinal issues lately in the groups. I can relate because my own issues ramp up during the summer because of photosensitivity.
And, from all of my own studies to help myself, I know that photosensitivity causes a flare and the best way to get it under control is the autoimmune protocol diet.
But, looking around in the mall, I was perplexed on what I could eat.
And that's where the inspiration kicked in.
Why not write a post about how to stick to the AIP diet while out and about?
But, I needed to remember this for later when I would have time to write it up. And, my brain fog would hinder that.
So, how could I remember it? I didn't have pen and paper with me.
So, I saved the idea in the Notes app on my iPhone. When we got home, I wrote it up, added the pin to my Pinterest board for lupus dieting, and went to sleep.
What do you know, I woke this morning, and I had over 100 hits on the page while I slept (my audience suffers from insomnia so they play on Pinterest over night).
Here's the takeaway:
- Look for inspiration around you in your daily life
- When the inspiration hits, use your phone to save the idea
- You can use the notes function or you can send yourself an email
The key is to not miss out! Life is happening around you and that means that people are doing things and buying things. Getting out and observing is way better inspiration than researching online.
