Pinterest Is My New BFF

Okay, maybe the title is misleading a little. I'm not really new to Pinterest. I just started using it in a new way. Before I built my own website, I mainly used Pinterest to pin my favorite Game of Thrones pins or to look up ideas that I could use in my classroom.

Like I said, that was before I created my own website. Once I joined Wealthy Affiliate, I learned about how I could use Pinterest to drive traffic to my website. I was curious about whether or not it would really work, so I decided to create pin my posts and see what would happen.

What I did was to apply for Rich Pins for website on Pinterest. I then created pins for each of my posts and pin them to a board that was built around the keyword for the article. Next, I pinned other pins that came up when I search for those specific keywords. Finally, I followed other boards that were related to my keyword.

I have to admit that it's kind of become an minor addiction of mine. I find myself looking to see who has followed me or repinned my posts. I love to use Pinterest Analytics and see all the data for my pins.

Honestly, I find it fascinating to see the breakdown of how many impressions and clicks I have for each pin. Even more fascinating is the location information for people that viewed my pins. It seems my pins are growing in popularity in the Netherlands. If that wasn't enough, when I look at the interest section, I can drill down further into what is being viewed and pinned by my audience.

I can use this information to create even more posts that have this specific information in mind. I have a feeling that this will drive even more traffic to my website. I'm going to test this theory out and see if I'm right about my hunch.

As for the traffic that my website has already seen from Pinterest, I'm amazed that 60% of my traffic has come from Pinterest. It shouldn't though considering that my audience is teachers, and teachers love Pinterest.

It's because of these reasons that Pinterest is my new BFF, especially as far as my website is concerned.

Good stuff Chris. I've always shied away from Pinterest on a social level, but reading your "travels" with it and how word of your site can really get around quickly, I may have to reconsider my interest in pinterest. thanks for sharing

You're very welcome. Sharing our successes is the purpose for these blog posts. Helping each other is what makes Wealthy Affiliate work..

Great post. I just brushed off my Pinterest account today. I haven’t been in the account for about a year and never really used it. Now that I’m working on my first site while following the WA guides I’m logging into all my social media accounts and cleaning them up in preparation of promoting my posts. I hope they will drive traffic to my site and am inspired by your post here.

Thanks!
