One Week In

So my first week has ended. I literally waited until the 11th hour to decide on upgrading to Premium Member, but I'm glad that I did.

The first week has been a steep learning curve. I'm not a novice at promoting businesses or using the internet as a way of informing and engaging the public, however, I had little knowledge or understanding of online marketing and affiliate membership programs.

So like a wide eyed puppy I launched myself right in to the Online Marketing Course level 1.

All went well, I understood how money was made on line, I got my free website up and running, not quite in 30 secs, but pretty damn quickly. I was free and away.

Then the course came to an end and I had a shell of a website and a lot of questions. I was still undecided about premium membership at this point, not really sure why, but I tend to err on the side of cynical. its not healthy but it is me, i'm cool with it.

So i started to look around and a lot of the content I wanted access to was restricted to premium members, my natural cynic is ring bells and banging cymbals, this is were I come unstuck and the 'to good to be true' offer becomes exactly that.

Along the way I had some interaction with the community at WA and all in all it was very supportive and positive, so I knew I was looking for something else on here that would reduce the cacophony of cynicism I was holding on to.

Then I found it, Affiliate Bootcamp. Here was something that was free and I could get my teeth into, something that answered some of the question I had around content, comments on my site, getting feedback on my site.

The more I dug in to this topic the more I realised that actually as a novice, the Pay Per Click opportunity that exists in promoting WA on a website was probably the first road I should go down. This would allow me to cut my teeth on a proven product/offer and learn my mistakes in an environment that was well documented, well supported and relatively straight forward,

So I started my next free website, this would combine my chosen lifestyle, as a member of a family that travels, along with my chosen goal of earning money online. The Affiliate program naturally brings these two together.

It became apparent that this is exactly where I should have started on day one. Sure it was easier to get the website up and running, still not 30 secs, but a lot closer than the first time!

The content of the bootcamp training lends itself to helping you develop content for your site that will promote WA and the payment structure is both transparent and generous. Bingo!

I was hooked, I had something that got me excited and the more work I put into it the more it would prove itself to be viable and the more motivated I would be. A self fulfilling prophecy!

So I bought the introductory premium membership, all the material I am interested in is available to me. The community is active, attractive in its openly supportive way and a real selling point for future WA sign ups.

I'm working hard on my content, looking to buy a domain name for my site and generally getting creative.

I suppose the one thing I would take away from my first week is that I should have invested the majority of that time on the Affiliate Bootcamp work rather than my own site.

The reason being, as a newbie to the whole arena of online marketing and affiliate programs, this is a ready made opportunity and I've learnt more from this than I did blindly making a my own 'passion' led website. I know my niche is too broad on this site and I need to drill down. I know that I want a finished website out there, one that I can promote proudly and one that will give me the best chance of generating income, after all that's why we are all here.

This will be achieved quicker through Bootcamp and the learning will influence and develop my other website along the way without the pressure to get it up and start that earning cycle, which I think will be a lot longer coming than with the WA promoting.

So there's my first week. Any newbies looking for a Plan A, should in my humble opinion, look to the WA Affiliate Bootcamp program before developing a completely new site from scratch.
