Issues with New WordPress Update? WordPress 5.6

Hello Guys, How are you doing? So, I've decided to write a short blog based on my experience with the new WordPress Update 5.6. It has been giving me some headaches, that's for sure. I have sorted things out now (I think) 🤞 and I would like to thank Wealthy Affiliates Site Support. Definitely one reason why if you want to use WordPress for your websites you should join. One of the many great features within this platform.

Anyway, I didn't start writing this blog to big up WA. Not that they don't deserve it but here is what happened. 2 days ago I logged in to my affiliate marketing website. I see that there was the option to upgrade my WordPress from 5.5 to 5.6 and I thought cool. The last upgrade 5.5 actually helped a lot. I was just short of 3.0 secs loading speed and this actually made my site faster plus I never had any issues with any of the past upgrades.

These things you shouldn't have to worry about but low and behold I upgraded to WordPress 5.6. I had a post I'd just published a couple of days before and I got to work updating it. Correcting spellings, rewriting a few lines here and there, and setting up the TOC (table of contents) AND I clicked update after like an hour and a half's worth of work AND What a **** take (excuse my french) it comes up with a screen 'FILE NOT FOUND'

I later found you can go back to your post and restore everything with the autosave feature but what a pain in the neck this is. I think here is the thing ~ WordPress 5.6 IS NOT COMPATIBLE with the Classic Editor plugin. I've had to install Gutenberg Blocks Gutentor now to fix this but I was having trouble with my menu as well saving new items etc. Also, I tried to unpack a plugin which wouldn't work either.

Wealthy Affiliate Site Support really come through here to help me fix at least my menu. If you get this issue try deleting your old one and creating a new one from scratch has worked for me. Although I am being cautious Wealthy Affiliate actually rolled my WordPress back to version 5.5 and I am very sceptical right now about actually upgrading.

Something is definitely amiss here I think I will try upgrading again next month but for now, will not be taking the risk and as I've said above 🤞 there are no more problems.

Site Support are excellent!

I had the same issue as you and the answer was to use block editor rather than classic editor because classic editor plugin has not been tested for the new release. I'm sure the plugin will get fixed into time but for now its another learning exercise (using block).

Frustration is a side-effect of being involved in the technological revolution.

Thanks for that, but I have been using block for months and had no problems with 5.6. I don't use a plug in for block, I just use what is in WordPress.

Second time today I've read about site support excelling themselves. Their support is fantastic.
