ChatGpt - Understanding and preparing for the unexpected!
Hi to all the WA community, hoping this Friday is treating you well.
I was directed to a blog post by a fellow WA member that I read with eagerness hoping to unleash the power that had been discussed in the post.
Can I mention the blog and member? Still learning the ropes on do's and dont's.
@Phil1944 - ChatGpt is Writing My Blog Posts (Well, Sorta). Excellent Read.
Keen and armed with my keyword phrase obtained from Jaaxy (excellent stats), I follow the instructions as laid out in the post.
Or did I? Thinking about it now perhaps my newbie error and I changed it up!
To better my odds, I requested a 1,500 word article instead of the suggested 1,000 word article on my chosen keyword so that if I had to change a few words, I had plenty of scope. I asked for UK spelling terms to reduce my editing. Yup, I'll have this done in no time at all.
Chatbot, within seconds rolled out what appeared to be exactly what I had asked for.
Whoop woo, how cool is that! Thanks @Phil1944!
Right - I'm still new to this (only 3 posts thus far) so I've gotta think my way through the processes I've been learning in the training modules;
Go to Website - Site Content - Create New - Choose a Template - Hmm, Keyword rich? Yup, that sounds right.
Copy from ChatGpt, paste to template.
Looking good! Okay, some reordering to do, I can do this. Training was clear, concise, just do it in exactly the same way. Step by step.
Introduction - check. Headers - check. Editing some of the wording needs a bit of a tweak - check. Conclusion - check. All done! How easy was that! Publish? Nope - word count is only 689? What?
It must be me, the newbie, argh!
It's okay, all part of the learning process, you got this.
Back to Chatgpt - I make my request again - can you provide me with a 1,500 word write up on chosen keyword please (my son says I am too polite to Chatbot, no need for the pleases and thank you's mum, its an AI).
Again, a flurry of words flow, stream down the screen.
Right - It must have been me, I must have done something wrong last time, lets do this again.
Copy, Paste, Intro, Headers, this time overwrite previous script, conclusion - what in the hell? 722 word count. Really? I know there's tonnes spinning in my head, but I'm sure I typed that correctly.
Do not be defeated - I'll ask Chatbot exactly the same thing and this time I'll ask for a word count per paragraph, yup that'll work.
Same thing, a flurry of words streaming down my screen with added word count provided per paragraph, quick add up on calculator, nice hit's the target, lets go.
This time, I copy and paste into Word as I know I can get a word count. 946 - Still under? But the Chatbot added a word count - #superconfused!
By this point, now 3 hours in and of course with my limited knowledge (I'm still learning, with only 3 posts under my belt), my ability to Navigate around the page is somewhat slow. I click on a header and the whole paragraph becomes a header, I try to undo but it won't, so delete and paste again. Do not touch the header, but there's too many spaces, leave it - do not touch the header or it'll happen again. That's fine, I'll come back to the formatting, once I'm more comfortable with navigating around.
My processes are slow, and that's okay. This is all entirely new to me and the only way I'll learn is practice, practice and more practice.
Eventually, after 4 attempts, almost 4 hours and quite a few additional words that I has to add, I published my 4th content post (I had hoped to spend only 1 hour on this 'quick' post).
I didn't expect ChatGpt to provide a write up, in fact 4 write-ups, with only half of the requested word count. So ChatGpt doesn't always get it right then? Or did I do something wrong?
Valuable time wasted? Or time well spent learning?
Would love some feedback and thoughts.
Cherie
NB; I'm really happy with the post! Keyword rich, words flow, great topic and adding more content to my site, etc. All steps in the right direction for sure, albeit slower than I might have hoped!

I still thik it was a Great attempt, Cherie! Well done. I have not ventured into this avenue, yet!
Jeff
Cherie, ChatGPT lies! It also gives output that is inaccurate. I asked it to write 1500k article but it didnt. Words were way less than that besides the data was from 2004. What? So its not up to date.
Its content spinning off of old blog post via the Internet. So i do not trust it. Google Bard is more current but its output is limited. Its still new so overtime it might improve with its learning. Its does hallucinate, and is not accurate.
I found it to be a waste of time asking it to write a post instead you are better off for using it simply for gaining insights for keywords, headlines, outlines, and introduction.
Jay’s class is on tonight about it. I hope you can attend.
I prefer to fill in the in outlines. Do the writing myself because as I said in my previous post that your readers crave the real you in your writing voice not something that is generated from AI.
Quit asking it to write a post. You don't need it its mostly plagiarized. You already wasted time editing its not worth writing over it. It wont make sense. Doing shortcuts isn't going to help you. I hope you learn this the hard way as you explained. Waste of time. Not worth it. Research real people real people blogs study what they do and find out whats missing. Find what people are looking for you are not going to find that in ChatGpT it will tell you where to go most of the questions are on social media, Quora is the best place real people there. Not a bot with outdated information.
Hi Brenda,
Thank you for your very objective response, super useful.
I think that was the point of my post really in that I didn't expect an AI not to be accurate. That was unexpected and it cost me a lot of time realising that and then with my limited understanding trying to correct it. That surprised me. That is my niavety to this new platform and all that I am learning.
And so to move forward, as you and @StevenStott below say recognise that it can be a useful tool, if used correctly, for say keywords, headlines, introductions etc. Accept that it is limited, out of date in parts as you have explained and not to have too much expectation in it and certainly don't waste my precious time.
Believe me, lesson well and truly learned.
Appreciate you constructive input.
Cheers

Hi
I am new and been through the exact same process. I do however now re-write most of the content. When ChatGpt finishes, just hit the carry on generating button.
Super fast for ideas, keywords, outline/template. I do get it to write the first draft buut then re-edit. There always seem to be a lot of repetition.
Good Luck with your endeavours.
Steve
Hey Steven,
Thank you, its not just me then, I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong.
Good to know others have experienced this aspect too and as you say
, excellent for for the prompts, outline/template etc and re-edit thereafter.
Thanks for your thoughts.

This ChatGPT is becoming the topic that everyone talks about lately here at Wealthy Affiliate. I understand that its new and people are trying it out but what I don't understand is what about writing like we used to do. The ones using the Chat GPT, don't you have to pay extra for the service. The Chat GBT will not put our own tone of voice in computer generated content and isn't this CHAT AI program just copying others content and reworded it as per say copying content. If anything, I would think the CHAT GBT content would hurt your websites with this computer-generated content. To me I much prefer put in all the work researching and writing my own original content as opposed to using CHAT GPT. As if we follow the training to a T on Wealthy Affiliate platform we are taught how to look for what people want with our intended audience before the CHAT bot came about. Now meaning to sound mean, but its like content writers cannot function anymore without talking about the CHAT bots. I get the impression of CHAT bot being no more than one of those article respinners scams that some bloggers were using. Another question I am waiting for is from Google or update, where this Chat Bot is going to be updated and google going to realize how many using to write their blogs and implement another penalty. I would like Kyle to create a training on this and explain to me that it will be save before I even attempt to look at it. I'll just keep closing out Bings annoying bot, as its frustrating when trying to research.
Goodluck
Jannette
Hi Jannette,
So new to this and so much to learn.
I think the reason I am drawn to utilise ChatGpt is to simplify my processes as being new there is so much to do and build.
Kyle has advised me to maintain my writing style, my wording as that's the authentic side that my website needs to convey.
And so I wholeheartedly agree with you about using our own words and not just copying. However, for prompts, for ideas, and for me at this stage - getting a flow going because this is all so new, it will help me a great deal.
Thanks for your thoughts
Cherie :o)
That is true, and I did go to Kyle's profile and found a training going make time today to watch. Its available to Premium plus subscribers. Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Power Up Your Online Business
I haven't ventured there yet either, Jannette. I did like how everyone used to write, as well. Soon, it might be all AI regurgitation, which is my fear. While some might be compelling, many all look like essentially the same thing, and, as Brenda pointed out, there is a lot of it which might not even be accurate.
As for the other things you mention, I concur.
Jeff

I think you have time well spent learning. I am constantly trying to figure things out with AI. As soon as I begin to feel comfortable, something new comes out and I start again.
Jim
Yes, I 100% concur. :o)
