Just Another Boring Day, Really?

Today is just another boring day!

Indeed it is but is today really a colourless day? Our daily tasks get monotonous, it lacks excitements and requires discipline, and perseverance to dutifully complete it. And I wonder is there any variable that could change my feeling of boredom to some excitement.

Usually, my just another boring day begins with 45 minutes of brisk walking. I've found out that when I delay my exercise to a later part of the day, it will be carried forward to the next day. So it means my regular exercises must be done in the morning. My daily meals follow regular hours, it always start with coffee and sandwich, and lunch is always rice with four dishes; likewise for dinner. After my first meal, I faithfully check and respond to my emails and Wealthy Affiliate's notifications. Followed by browsing for interesting online articles to read. Aspired to be a writer or blogger, I get down to drafting, writing, editing, and the cycle continues with feeds of reading time. Yes, I read or write for most part of the day. And living up to the expectations of another boring day, I routinely vegetate in front of the television after my last meal of the day.

So this happens for 335 days (the remaining 7, and 14 days are not boring as they are saved for public holidays and sick leave). Often I am sick for more than 14 days. That's when my bipolar depression kicks in and I would be overwhelmed with inertia, sleepiness and a lost in vitality. My just another boring day becomes more monotonous as the daily routine becomes eat-sleep-eat-sleep-eat ritual. At this rate I am going, I certainly could not meet my goals to write three blog posts every week.

How interesting can the day be on a just another boring day? I am asking as I think every day is different, it brings fresh ideas and feelings when the sun rises. The one variable that can make each day exciting is me. I have the choice to make a difference.

Why do we feel bored?

I have chosen to be a blogger as writing is something I enjoy doing so. There is no grounds for me to feel bored when I am doing what I like, reading and writing. Just another boring day is a mistaken interpretation and mindset on my part. To feel boredom could be an excuse I need to do something different. It could be the ringing alarm that the task-on-hand is not challenging enough, make a change. It could be an indicator that I need to step back, ease my mind over some difficult concepts I fail to grasp from my readings. In some ways, boredom is equivalent to feeling frustrated.

For someone to feel bored every day is certainly a clear signal to think deeper... Am I in the wrong job or profession? Is my relationship issues in a stalemate? What am I lacking of, can I do better? Do I have an alternative solution?

Let's retrospect ...

I would like to request you to think about how frequent do you feel bored with what you are doing now? Is it once a week, once a day, once every hour?

To have just another boring day is not boring at all. It is a gentle alarm to keep you thinking what difference you can make for betterment and progress. Do share with me what you think about boring days and what you do with it? Perhaps we can find out how to “undo” these boring days together.

Nice post and I have to admit since I started this journey I have never hit boredom, frustration, feeling overwhelmed etc but never boredom

Hello Katie
Good for you to keep boredom at bay.
Cheers,
Cheng

When I have a boring day, I force myself to look from the "outside-in" or look at what I'm doing in another perspective. If I am writing, I will start to read or look at YouTube on the subject to find something inspiring.

Hello Greg,
Thank you for your sharing.

I think finding something boring is a normal part of most of our lives to be honest. If and when it becomes constantly boring I would start to worry. I love doing what I'm doing and if I can help someone or have a laugh, then it all helps my day to be more enjoyable.

I'm sorry to hear about your bi-polar and I know just how difficult that can be to live with, so I think you're doing just great focusing when you are able to. Keep up the journey - the destination will be worth it :)

Hello Jude,
Thank you for your sharing.
Glad to hear you love doing what you are doing now.
I'm getting better with Bipolar and it's a work-in-progress thing :)

I think we all have boring days periodically but we need to have them to appreciate the exciting days more. Lol!
It is good to use them though to better means like working on your sites etc, but sometimes you don't need too much of a busy day so you can a chance to slow down and re- assess things!
Cheers, Lisa

Hello Lisa,
Thank you for your sharing.
You are right, we need boring days to know what happy days are and certainly we don't always need busy days.
