Mixed feelings and feeling the pressure.

Its the New Year and I have to be honest, I am having mixed feelings at the moment. The enthusiasm is certainly still there and I do enjoy producing content for my site, but I am feeling pressure to 'perform'. I think I have become a little bit obsessed with my site health stats and go into panic mode when I see that they have dropped.

As much as I would like to consider WA a full time job, it just can't be that for me. Life is busy and fitting this in is a work of art. I am starting to think that the part time aspect of WA that I bought into really doesn't exist.

I am not a quitter though, so I will not give up. This needs to be given a proper go in order to attain any success and I am still willing to do that. I just hope that all this precious time and effort will not be in vain.

Hi Charlotte, I just commented on your site via the site comments bit. Don't quit anyway - we're both from the UK, need to keep going strong lol :). I understand getting obsessed with health stats and so on - for me it can be site rank and google analytics - it's a good idea to step right away from that and have really set times to check it. Anyway, this was last written in JAN so, hopefully you are well over these feelings. Nat x

Hi Nat, thank you so much for your positive message. Yes, those feelings have subsided a bit but still surface sometimes. I focus on my site and actually do very little WA posting etc (hence my rank!), it works for me that way. Its nice to know there are some other Brits out there. All the best, Charlotte x

I don't post all that much within WA, to be honest the rankings are a bit of a mystery to me because sometimes I think I'm doing more within WA and it goes down rather than up! lol, nevertheless, I spend my days on my sites pretty much since I joined last august! I just know we have to play the long game. Keep in touch! :)

I read a post (or a blog, I can't remember) by another member who started struggling after 4 months in the face of her other commitments. She missed the initial fun and buzz of her first week or two here. She did nothing for a couple of weeks, the she wrote a piece for her site one day and posted it. She social-networked it. Then she went back to her other commitments. A few days later she did the same thing. She added content as and when (a) she could and (b) knew she enjoy doing so. Slowly she found that she was writing regularly if daily or sometimes even weekly. It took longer - but it began to pay off.

You have created a lovely site - just trickle stuff onto it and it will grow sure and strong.

Thank you for your inspiring comments. I have felt better about things since I wrote the blog which can only be a good thing. Maybe it was a case of getting it off my chest. I think I have realised that I just need to be more patient!

WA is part time for me too, until it proves otherwise. In the meantime, the challenge is to use those part time hours most efficiently.

I couldn't agree more, its knowing how to prioritise I suppose. Its nice to hear that there are other part timers out there!
